I was promised that my delivery would arrive between May 26 and June 2, before I ever agreed to sign a contract with this company.  After my things were picked up by the movers, I was told they could only be delivered on May 25 (before I was allowed to move into my apartment) or on June 5 - 8 (after the agreed upon delivery window).  After spending an entire afternoon (not to mention my last afternoon with my parents and family for a long time, as I'm moving across the country) going back and forth with both 3 different American Van Lines representatives and the representative from the local contracted moving company, I was essentially told over and over again there was nothing they could do.  It was not until 7:30 p.m. that night that I finally was able to speak with a supervisor, who continued to tell me there was nothing they could do and despite my best alternative suggestions, refused to help.  I will now have to sleep on the floor for over a week, have no pots or pans to cook with (thus paying for meals), no shower curtain (will have to buy a new one, added expense, same for towels) and cannot set up my home office as intended (lost wages).  For all of this drastic inconvenience, I was offered a measley $30/day.  That won't even cover a day's worth of food for two people (mind you, we'd have to eat out, as we have nothing to cook with).  This company is unacceptable, unhelpful, deceptive and I cannot stress enough never to book a move with American Van Lines.  They are liars and thieves.
