If you are contacted by ARA DO NOT send them any money. I recieved a letter from Asset Recovery Associates claiming I owe them $1,224.52 from a credit card account that was closed and setteled seven years ago. I have filed a complaint with the Illinois Better Bureau and the Federal Trades Comission. If you are contacted by these peolpe I strongley suggest you do the same.
