Asurion I've been lied into purchasing worthless and overpriced "insurance". Internet

While renewing cell phone contract last year, we inquired about phone insurance. We were told about this great insurance that protects the phone no matter what, and the deductible was only around $50.

Few days ago my spouse's phone went haywire, and it is out of warranty already. We decided to use the "insurance" to have the phone replaced. We went to Verizon's corporate store, where a clerk told us we have to file the claim online or on the phone, and the deductible is $50. We went home, and I tried to file the claim online. Since I could not find the make and model of the phone in question, I called the number in the brochure the clerk gave us. Everything went well, until the lady I talked to told me that the deductible would be $99. Interesting, how the deductible gained in price between the store and our home.

Today someone from Asurion called me and wasted some 10 minutes of my time only to tell me that indeed the deductible is not what we were told in the beginning, and that he could not do anything about it.

I just hate when people lie about the products they sell. I hate being lied into purchase of something as worthless and overpriced as the Asurion service. Tomorrow I will go to the Verizon store, and I will cancel the so-called insurance effective immediately. Shame I cannot request a refund. What a rip-off!
