Had an AT&T U-Verse rep sign me up at the front door of my home on 9/26/07. The promotion was sign-up for U-Verse and receive the movie package free for one year. So I signed up for the U-200 package with HD-DVR and high-speed-internet and free installation. The entire package was sold to me for $74.90 every month.

On the day to install U-Verse, they never showed up and I even confirmed it earlier that day. Second try (different day) they couldn't get it to work.

Third try (different day) they couldn't get it to work and said they call me to reschedule with an experienced tech. After 3 weeks and a dozen calls they came out. They got it all installed but the free movie channels weren't working and believe it or not the tech still left. After two weeks of phone calls and 3 hours on the phone they finally got it working. The supervisor I was dealing with said I would get $50 off my first bill for the inconvenience.

Yesterday 12/17/07 I opened my first bill and it's $211.84 not $74.90. I called AT&T and 25 minutes later I finally spoke with someone who could help mebut according to him I ordered the package on 11/03/07 and must pay, 11/03/07 was the day AT&T figured-out the free movie channels. With all my original paper work in hand and a mouth full of words he finally said he'd call me back tomorrow with and adjustment. The question is will he call back and will my rate be adjusted?

AT & T - Ohhh just like any other company folks.

AUTHOR: Amazed - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 07, 2008

I have recently had U-verse connected (6/6/08). That is the U200 package and Internet service.

I admit right off the bat I was a little furious because the "walking sales rep" pretended to have a dead battery in her cell phone and asked if she could use my cell phone to make the calls needed to sign me up. What I didn't know was it would take her well over 35 minutes on one call. Then to top that off she made three other calls. Those three were much shorter calls but still using my a nice piece of my 450 minutes. The bad thing was - while she was holding on my phone her cell rings several times - two times she did answer it and talk. My phone against one ear and her's against the other ear.

Well, you know how they say something will turn around and bite you in the rear? It did for this sales rep. There was some sort of issue with the AT & T computers in the middle of them attempting to set my service up and they said they would have to call me back on the next day.

The next day comes and the Tech pulls up out front ready to install - I walk out a little confused and explain to him that I think he should check to make sure he was supposed to be here and he shows me his laptop screen with a workorder for me - I then explain to him that they never completed my sign-up and I was waiting on a call from their office to finish it.

The tech gets on the phone and immediately starts to take care of my set-up issues. Here is where the sales rep gets bitten - Because they had to basically complete the entire sale all over again she will not be getting paid for signing me up.

Onto the 100.00 cash back promise - like all companies you usually have to fight to get what they promised you they would give you back or free and here AT & T is no different.

I was promised one free month of cable, 100.00 cash back, no contracts, and Free installation. I am "getting" the free month of cable (split between two months invoices), I did not have to sign a contract and the installation was absolutely free I was not charged on my first bill. The 100.00 cash back - oh yes - I am having to force this one to take place.

It's not as difficult as you might believe. I picked up my cell called AT & T Rewards Center and they solved the issue. Granted it took three way call between the rewards center, customer service and myself but my issue did get solved.

FYI - My first bill was much lower than I expected. In fact it was lower than the basic monthly charge for my U200 package.

There are much better things to lay the label of Rip-Off on - try my old cable company - see below:

The cable company I left for AT & T U-Verse - it is going to be two months before I ever see the refund I am due - Two months people. Please, this is money I have already given them and they are going to take two months to give it back to me. What do you think would happen to your service with this company if you hadn't paid them for two months??????
