When I use an ATM from a competitor - usually its another bank, I always print out a slip of my "Available Balanace" before withdrawing, just to make sure I am on the safe side.

When I review my transaction history I notice a fee that appears from nowhere, that dreaded overdraft fee $35.00 precious dollars attached to my withdrawal. As I bring this to the attention of a BofA Rep. the usual response is that the fee was delayed to my account for the transaction. How could it be delayed when I printed an Available Balance receipt before withdrawing?

Does Bank of America withold the most current and up-to-date info about my account before allowing a transaction from a competitor to post? It doesn't matter which bank I use, I tried this method out and still receive surcharges for each transaction - even though my Available Balance receipt shows the money is there.

This is an unfair practice to diminish competitive banks accuracy and authorization for interchange account activity using ATMs by consumers.Has anyone else faced something similar to my situation? I want to hear you out!

RONNY G, THE ONES COMING HERE TO DEFEND THE BANKS ARE LOSING!!! THEY'RE BEING HUMILIATED BY....

AUTHOR: Karl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 26, 2009

PEOPLE WHO ARE EXPOSING THE TRUTH.

Millions upon millions of people all over the world are now realizing that these banks, along with the Federal Reserve, have FAILED! It's that simple. If the banks were being run by honest & ethical people, then there wouldn't have been all the problems we're now experiencing, correct? However, many banks decided to offer ARM's & Interest Only Mortgages, & many others INVESTED in these mortgages that are now DESTROYING our economy & other economies, right?

*The FEDERAL RESERVE, & their banks, have FAILED MISERABLY and they're attempting to have Americans BAIL THEM OUT, right?

Anyone can 'Google' this- HEROES AND ZEROS IN 2008, and go to that CNNMoney.com article and look at the faces of the HEROES & the zeros, correct?

WELCOME TO AMERICA- ONE BIG ILLUSION

P.S. Make sure to 'Google' this- THE WARNING: FRONTLINE PBS, and watch it on the web. I believe there's at least one 'zero' that can be seen in that FRONTLINE documentary, huh?

Have a nice week.

There is a HUGE difference between insulting or belittling someone who has come here to report..and is already angry, upset and at financial loss..then me coming to the defense of the poster..if I feel there was legitimate complaint.

I would not expect a BANK DEFENDER to understand..since even sound logic does not work with them..we can never expect fairness or reason...not going to happen.

I have stated early on since I first chose this "hobby" of exposing the banks tactics to fleece their customers during a recession..that I will respond in a similar fashion and behavior as I am treated..I will respect back when respected..and I will attack back with insult 10 FOLD any time I see anyone insulting or belittling any poster who has come here to lodge a legitimate complaint.

Now I can't expect a BANK DEFENDER it understand fairness or reason..but others who read this may get the point., and that is all that really matters.

In closing..I wouldn't say I "resorted" to insulting anyone..in most cases the insults were quite carefully chosen with intention and clear mind. There may have been times when I was out of place..and if so..I am SURE I would have apologized..and I am SURE you would not post any "list" of that.

Thank you.

Now lets try to keep these responses at a mature level..cut out the insults and belittling...cut out the foolish pissing matches..and try to help these customers with some degree of integrity and respect. Is that really so difficult?

Are you seriously going to call Stacey out for insults? You?!

Would you like to see a list of insults that you felt the need to resort to?

If you don't like insulting or abusive behavior, then why not set an example of how you would like others to behave?

Stacey..your advice was good..why did you ruin it with an insult??

Are you anyone's parent on this report? If not..why the snide comment about  "growing up and taking responsibility for finances"?

Not everyone who was duped into the banks tactics was a child..or needed to grow up. What they needed was the BANK to tell them EXACTLY what you did..

"STOP relying on atm, phone and online balances - they are not ACCURATE!"

That says it all right there. No reason to add insult to injury if you truly have intent of helping anyone with your advice...sound fair?

Not all bank defenders are nasty...but the ones who are..make ALL the other ones look bad..and take away any credibility from all of them. Then some who insult or belittle the posters claim not to be bank defenders...which may be the case..but by snide remarks against the posters...it seems you are siding with the bank. If the bank is not doing the right thing..whether it is technically legal or not...they hold SOME responsibility as well...the misleading tactics and deception they use are apparent..and yield them many additional excessive fees...there is NOTHING wrong with any of us exposing that as well.

And all the constant complaints and exposure is actually doing some good..because the banks, ON THEIR OWN..are deciding to make some policy changes that are more fair to the customers...so perhaps the banks are not so sure that they were always "doing nothing wrong"...remotely possible you think??

STOP relying on atm, phone and online balances - they are not ACCURATE! The only way to keep a positive balance is to keep a check register and balance your monthly bank statement - how easy is that

I learned that the HARD way - used to make payments online - got my gas cut off in December - My parents paid the bill and my end of the bargain was I had to turn my checking account over to my father the CPA - I now get an allowance until I am paid off - I have a greater respect for how to manage finances now

Grow up and take responsibility for your OWN finances

Typical bank deception....

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, October 22, 2009

I don't use ATM's anymore. But back when I did I remember it would actually charge you for a fee to check the balance ...tell you funds were available..then you get an overdraft fee due to "unavailable" funds.

So of course you need to keep track of your money...to the PENNY..or you will fall right into this trap.

If you look up the word "available" in the dictionary..you will find this definition...

adjective

suitable or ready for use; of use or service; at hand: I used whatever tools were available.

readily obtainable; accessible: available resources.

Apparently the banks have their own definition, but judging by the money they make in fees off this deception..it makes sense why they do it.

Hopefully due to all the complaints about this..pressure from congress, bad press , pending lawsuits....perhaps this tactic will soon be a thing of the past. THEN...if a customer decides to use an ATM and truly does not have funds available..either the transaction will be declined at the swipe..or, if the customer has overdraft protection and still continues with the transaction knowing the funds are actually unavailable...will get a legitimate fee and no complaint will be necessary, since if that was the case...you could not place any blame on the bank.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Here's why.

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 22, 2009

" It doesn't matter which bank I use, I tried this method out and still receive surcharges for each transaction - even though my Available Balance receipt shows the money is there "

Your "available balance" as shown online or by ATM, only knows about items that have been posted (checks) or have a hold amount (debits). The bank has no way of knowing what other outstanding items you have. Those outstanding items can hit your account anytime after you make the ATM withdrawl.

The only way you can really know how much money you have available in an account is to keep an accurate register. You are the only one who knows what transactions are out there that might affect your available balance. The bank can only tell you about transactions that have been presented at the time you inquire about the balance.

Online banking was never meant to substitute for keeping an accurate register. This will keep happening until you start using one.
