I was hired by Blue Lion Marketing (an independent contractor of AT&T) in November of 2011. During both the phone interview and the face to face interview, I was told that the salary was $400 per week plus the possibility of comission. I was also told that I would be paid $200 for the week long training period. Neither was true. The truth is that this is a completely comission based job. I had to provide my own transportation to the "field", use my personal cell phone for work purposes and attend mandatory out of town "conference calls".
None of this was mentioned during the interview process. I was not given a reimbursement for the gas or cell phone usage. I was sick the weekend of the "conference call" so did not have to pay for that trip out of my own pocket. We were expected to walk, knocking on doors from 11am until 6pm or until we made a sale. If we did not make a sale, we were not paid. No tax forms were given to me during the training period because no federal, state or local taxes were taken out of the 2 paychecks I received. No information was offered about how to file my taxes.
The manager of this office, Lawrence Inman, is a rude, sheltered, condescending braggart. He flashed his paycheck, banks statements & money around several times to various employees. He expected the employees to make sales during the hours when most people are at work and became puzzled when sales were not made.
I have read several of the other complaints made against this company on this website and agree with all of them. I did check this business out with the BBB before accepting a job, however the BBB does not register complaints from current or former employees, only customers. I am considering filing a complaint with the State of North Carolina about their business practices, but at this time have not made up my mind.
Beware to all who accept employment with this company no matter which location you pick!!!!!

I worked for Blue Lion for 2 weeks. I was just let go today, due to an issue in my background check. I honestly have never worked for a better bunch of guys than here, and I am 48 and worked a lot of jobs. I was paid in full today and Travis also threw in an extra $100 for the sale Imade this week. Now mind you, I was suppose to make at least 4 sales this week to earn 400 dollars next week. He didn't have to pay me for this sale, as it didn't meet the quota. Travis , the CEO, is a decent person, and tries to look out for his people. All of his trainers and managers are the same. They make sure their people are taken care of. I have nothing but praise for this company and it's staff. I only wish I
could have continued to work for them.
And yes, I am posting this on every one of these ripoff reports !!!!

I was browsing this site for another job that I was about to accept and I stumbled upon this report about my old job at Blue Lion Marketing in Greensboro. I worked at Blue Lion in November and December but due to my recent relocation to another state I no longer work there. I believe I know who filed this report and you are truly a bitter and untruthful person.
It is sad when I see someone slander someone's name such a Lawrence Inman without any justification and trust I will be informing there Human Resource department because what is mentioned below is really liable and they should sue you. Mr. Inman was a great boss who went above and beyond for his employees. I have never worked a job before where the boss pays for the entire office's breakfast, or gives them money out of his own pocket, or even takes the office out to dinner and pay for everyone's food and alcoholic drinks.
As far as the "mandatory conference" goes there are no MANDATORY conferences. We did have conferences we could attend if we wanted where there were seminars given and guest speakers to help us reach our goals as individuals and as a company also they awarded us prizes for our hard work. Not only did managers, including Mr. Inman, drive to the conference never asking for gas money but if it was a conference that was out of the state of North Carolina our hotel rooms were paid for as well as our meals.
Also as far as two phone interviews are concerned, unless they made a special exception for this particular person, they don't even do phone interviews. Don't believe me call and try? I know this because my friend from Jersey called and wanted a job, since I enjoyed working for them so much, and that is against there policy. 2nd lie is if you are an independent contractor as the person stated they were that would mean that you would not take taxes out because you would report your income on a 1099 to have your taxes withdrawn. As far as tax forms are concerned they gave me and everyone else I know a packet when we were first hired were we had to fill out a tax form and turn it in to the administrator.
Also, I have no clue what this person is talking about this being a commissioned based job. Having worked commissions before, working at a retail store, this job is in no way commissions. Unless they of course payed her differently then they paid every other employee, when you work commissions you only get paid a % of the product you sale and if the person returns the product the % you had received from it would be garnished or taken out of your next paycheck. Never did I make only a % of what I sold and more importantly even if someone canceled there service it was NEVER garnished from my paycheck. I always minimally received $400 a week because I did my job and its really sad when I see that people don't do there job and then they want to blame someone else.
I think that before someone is allowed to write a report here they should investigate if the person quite or was fired. It really bothers me because Blue Lion Marketing was the BEST company I ever worked for. I wish they had an office in Ohio because I would surely work for them again. I say to anyone thinking of working for them or for any company for that fact, do your research!!! Don't just believe one person call AT&T who is one of Blue Lion's biggest clients. I am positive with how strict AT&T was with us and how we represented there name there is no way they would back a company that would not pay there employees.
