A Repensentive came to my house on a Saturday evening. During the 90 minute presentation, she had convinced us that the pool advertised on TV was a dangerous pool as well as any pool you would buy anywhere else. The chemicals used in the pool could cause cancer as well as blow up in our face and was not really as sanitary as the ionizated pool. Concerned about our grandchildren, we signed the contract even though it was very expensive even with all the money knocked off the orginal price. I was leery but, (here's where they get you) I had to make the decision that day. The offer was only good if we would show the pool and only if we signed the contract that day or she could not give us such a discount. The pool orginally was I think around $24,000.00 but with the discounts and after she even call the company we got the price down to $9,700.00. After the contract was signed, I got on the internet and looked up ionization and the better business bureau. We ivery quickly changed our minds and signed the notice of cancellation. First thing monday morning before going to work I went to the post office and mailed the cancellation. I Got a call two weeks later saying they were confirming the delivery of the pool. I told him at that time I had already cancelled. I contacted a manager of the company and was at that time told Blue World Pools never recieved my letter of cancellation and I had signed the contract so I would have to pay the 30% or 50% which ever would apply to cover restocking the pool. A week later I recieved a letter saying I owed 50% of the orginal cost and if not paid in full within 10 days they would put a lien on my property. I never even got the pool. I'm right now not sure how this is going to end but I'm not going down without a fight. Everbody needs to all get together and try to put them out of business. I am willing to do what ever it takes. Since you can't put an e-mail address on this website it would be hard to fight and I'm sure there are more people out there that feel the way I do. Anyone with any suggestions I am willing to do my part.

Sorry to hear you were ripped off, when you mailed the 3 day recission letter/notice you should have sent it certified as well and even called to cancel. Your sale is not valid unless the salesperson gave each of you a signed copy of the same cancellation notice as well the sales person was to verbally explain it to you, that is federal law. The pool they advertise on tv for $299 is not real. You can't even buy a filter for $299, much less the pool, liner etc. Above ground pools are sold as a kit, most include all of that anyway. This ionization is all hype and not needed. This is illegal bait and switch advertising and in most states carries a class one misdemeanor/$1,000 fine. If you want to go after them, this is your best recourse. Contact you states Attorney General office promptly, most have a consumers complaint department and they can guide you what to do next but I urge you not to hesitate.
Blue World Pools is entirely Atlanta, Ga. based and operated, it's a father and son corporation. If you cancelled from a more reputable company, they would have accepted your cancellation over the phone or fax. Continuation of deceptive advertising carries a heavier fine once they have been served notice. The reason for the Nevada address is if you read the contract, if you file suit against them, then you Must go to Carson City court. If you did that with attorney's fees, then I am sure it will cost you much more than the $9800 pool, right? Many contracts as well give the corporation the right to settlle with arbitration, no courtrooms or juries. The sales person sounds like a pro and aware of bait and switch. She is an independent contractor, not an employee, so she as well is a escape goat for them, even though they trained her what to do and say. When she called into the office that is what they require her to do, in doing that it convicts them as well as an employer and that is another way to get them, not a contractor.

This advertising ploy is to advertise a ridiculous lowball price and see what idiot calls for an appointment and then switch and gotcha. If they have 100 sales people across the country and they sell 50 a day and on the average the pool you bought cost them install around $5,000 total, well you ad up the profits.

The installers are all self employed contractors. If they get into too much hot water legally, they just relocate and change the company name, they could as well sell home improvements etc. They sell as well Thermo Spas hotubs, you call in for a free dvd, instead they call you and set an appointment, the thing is the salesman is not aware of that perhaps and their profits are much more than if you bought them yourself. Pools are luxury sales and many people are inpulse buyers, that is another reason bait and switch is used in pools, good luck!
