Brookdale Senior Living specializes in ripping off associate-level employees any way they can. They do this to pay those in upper management who are already well off.  Brookdale manufactures ways to keep the associates poor, yet have the audacity to preface their job descriptions with, "At Brookdale, you will enjoy a rewarding career with a forward thinking company while receiving an impressive portfolio of benefits designed to help you maintain a comfortable lifestyle for you and your family."  WHAT A JOKE!  HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE ON $12,000 TO $18,000 PER YEAR!?!

After Brookdale's hostile takeover of Emeritus, I knew it was going to be a bad deal.  Brookdale took away my hours without notice, took away my nice health insurance and replaced it with a useless, very high deductible plan, and they gave me zero (same day) notice that I would lose more hours per week, amounting to $120 a month. No big deal if you are already well off, but I have my expenses down to the penny, so this and the other negative factors were ENOUGH!  ENOUGH ALREADY!  ENOUGH TAKING!  So, I walked.  I stewed and stewed and bit the bullet for a year, and they company would say, okay 30 minute breaks, no wait, we're over on the hours, now 45-minute breaks, now two hours a week less, ENOUGH!

Brookdale then refuse to pay out my remaining paid time off of 91.4 hours.  Jenny Goetsch then quoted me the handbook saying I did not give proper notice, so they wouldn't pay me.  OH, SO YOU CAN GIVE ZERO NOTICE AND CUT MY PAY--RIGHT NOW--BUT I CAN'T LEAVE--RIGHT NOW AND STILL GET WHAT'S OWED TO ME???  YOU BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES!

Do not work for Brookdale Senior Living, ripoff, Kenmore, non-payment of vacation pay.  Do not move your loved ones into a terribly understaffed Brookdale facility, and if you have a family member there, move them out!  Brookdale specializes in taking your money, whether you are a resident, resident family member or employee and giving as little as possible back, unless you're in the "elite" management crowd!  T. Andrew Smith, you should be ashamed!  But at least here I can speak WITHOUT FEAR OF RETALIATION!

Brookdale is among the worst employers, worst companies in the world.  It cost me $1,350 to write this--the amount of my unpaid PTO--so in the end, if I can spare someone else the grief, I will have my reward later.  I know I'm justified, because I know I'm right.  If Brookdale would have given me two weeks notice that they were going to cut my pay, then you wouldn't be reading this.

Stacey Marshall is also responsible for ripping me off of my vacation pay. Again, if the company can cut my hours with same-day notice, I should be able to quit with same-day notice and still get my vacation pay. HYPOCRITES! I AM NEVER GOING TO LET YOU FORGET IT!
