In February of this year we contacted Buyowner to talk about listing our home. We were visited by one of their representatives Vasili --- who also represented himself as a licensed Real Estate Agent. We bought his line hook line a sinker depending on his expertise. Our upfront contract price was $ 6400.00 or 1 1/2 percent. Never were we given any other option for pricing.

Since then (4 months later) Not one person has contacted through the Buyowner web site, we removed the Buyowner sign and placed a generic for sale sign on our property and the people started flying in.

Here is what we have found. The contact number on their signs are not manned 24 hours as we were lead to believe. Prospective buyers would normally get a recording which is the same as the web site. Callers would not be able to immediately get our contact number and give up. We were supposed to get this fancy catalog of properties monthly from Buyowner. in 4 months we only received one.

Contact with their office has not been responsive as we have left messages for their manager a number of times with no call backs. They also stated that their representative was not a Real Estate Agent. They provided incorrect market analysis, slow or no response to questions. Because we have not been able to contact a manager I suspect without proper management as well.

Do not use this service, it is a waste of good money and very unprofessional.

Alternative to buyowner.com

AUTHOR: Jonathan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 07, 2006

Buyowner.com is the biggest waste of money...BAR NONE. They charge fees comparable to what you would be charged by a discount realtor, you get none of the exposure and they have to be paid upfront...regardless of the outcome. I think that everyone should at least try to sell their home by themsleves on the off chance that they could save a substantial amount of money. So what I would recommend (and I am not nor have a ever been a realtor) is listing your home with a flat fee realtor. Basically, you pay 300-400, upfront, and a company puts your house on the local MLS. This is extremely important because it provides the exposure that only the mls can give you and it guarantees realtors who are working with buyers that they will get their commission if they sell your house. This way saves you money, a lot of money, and gets you 100 times the exposure.
