Bamboo is an ecofriendly product, which is likely why you would order fencing from Cali bamboo. Their webset is well laid out with beautiful pictures of the fencing we thought we were ordering. The fencing we recieved however was cracked, broken, peices of rough bamboo held together with wire.

We called the company right away to say that this was not the product we had understood it to be from either the website or sales person discription. Further we could not use this fencing for our backyard as we needed privacy so our small child could play and not be seen from the street, and there was space between the stringed together peices of bamboo. We also live in WY with extreme wind and weather and since the bamboo already looked badly we did not think we could leave it up for more than a few seasons with out really detracting from our house.

The formerly friendly salesman quickly became rude and informed us that he would transfer us to the customer service manager, though he thought there was nothing they could do.

The customer service manager informed us that there is a no return policy unless the product is damaged. When we informed her that the bamboo was indeed cracked she said that we could email her pictures but there was likely still nothing the company would do. No exchange was offered and we were told that the reason they hadnt sent us slats as we had presumed because they only lasted 5 years.

Several conversations later, after the customer service manager had recieved a complete discription on why I was unhappy, and had discussed the matter with the company's owner, who also concluded that there was nothing they could do, I was told to do what I had to do but to stay in contact.

My husband and I try to be nice, honest people who help the environment when we can. We are filing this report because we do not want someone else to get "ripped off." We currently have 90 feet of overpriced bamboo fencing rotting in our yard if anyone is interested. We would like to sell it, but in good consience we can not do to someone else what Cali Bamboo did to us. Dont be fooled by this product and just donate money to the environment.
