I would like everyone to be aware of ‘Carfax Reports’. I have a 2013 Dodge Charger and earlier this year it was a victim of a hit and run. The damage was only $1500.00. Carfax has my car listed with structural damage, and they REFUSE to fix their records, stating it was reported that way. However, after talking to my insurance company, my lien holder, and the repair shop, there was not structural damage reported on anyone’s records. Therefore I proceeded to get the repair report. No structural damage was reported to the insurance company originally, nor was their anything structural repaired on my car. Per my insurance company if there had been structural damage it would have been totaled since this is 2014 and the car is a 2013. But thanks to the “WRONG” report from ‘Carfax’ I cannot trade my car in because of the “Structural Damage” that “DOES NOT EXSIST” but they claim it does.
The repair list does list framework, HOWEVER, if you READ the repair detail it is because the repair shop was replacing the front bumper and since the bumper is attached to the frame, then by law it has to be listed as framework. BUT the repair report DOES NOT state in any way shape or form structural damage. This was someone somewhere making assumptions and not reading the full repair report to find out it was just a bumper replacement.
But thanks to Carfax and their falsified reports, my car is appraised $10,000 less than what it is truly worth. The REALLY sad part is that I am not the only one that has had issues with Carfax showing incomplete reports. For a company that is “SUPPOSIBLY” reputable, they sure do show inaccurate information, they refuse to fix it, and this has hurt not only myself, but also 1000’s of other people.
They really should have a department that will correct errors when they errors are easily proven to be inaccurate. Instead they do not care that they hurt or how that affects people. The other “REALLY SAD” part is that car dealership’s (Yes Multiple one’s) no longer depend on their trained professional mechanics to assess a car’s worth, they depend on a inaccurate report and they do not care that you have proof the report is wrong!!

Richard,
I do agree with you. If there was truly structural damage I would want to know also.
However, as I stated in this case there was not structrual damage to my car, per the lein holder, insurance company and repair shop.
So I do not feel that Carfax listing my car as having structrual damage is something that they should be allowed to do. I realize mistakes are made, but they are refusing to fix the mistake in their system. Even though I have valid proof they are wrong.
That is my plight with the company.
You are right though, if I was buying a car and it had that kind of damage I would want to know.
But when a company is giving false information, such as structural damage, and that is not correct and it is brought to their attention with plenty of proof, they should be willing to correct their report to show the proper damage and repair.
Thank you for your input. Again, if it was true I would want to know as well. But in this case it is not.

and pull a carfax, and it says structural damage, I am either walking or expecting to buy that car dirt cheap.
Don't blame the dealer. Its economics.
And i am NOT going to believe the dealer when he tells the tale of 'oh they replaced the bumper"
