I was invited to take an IQ test on facebook and when I completed the test I was instructed to put my cellphone number down to receive my results via text message.
Untill I started reading the ripoff report I didn't know that this is how they got my information.
I have sent cellflirt several email replys telling them to remove me from their service and that I didn't sign up for it nor did I ever use their service! Every time I send them an email reply they reply that I am already a registered user. I just got another email from them stating that my subscription has been renewed @ $9.95 for the month; to which I replied that I was going to contact the BBB and the Atty. Generals office if I wasn't removed and my money refunded.
I have tried to forward their correspondence to myself, my boss and our corporate communications department so that I will have a record of my correspondence with them and they have somehow made it almost impossible to forward the correspondence!
I would like to see these persons prosecuted and permanently shut down!
I guess that I am not the genius that the test indicated!

#3 Consumer Suggestion
SUGGESTION - I HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN SEVERAL YEARS AGO
AUTHOR: Dirk - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, July 28, 2009
The only difference was that after I voted by text on American Idol one year, I started receiving text messages that my SMS subscription was being renewed at $9.99 per month. Problem was, there was nothing to renew as I did not subscribe in the first place. I followed the "remedies" to no avail. Sending the word STOP to them only verifies your cell number as a valid number. Calling does not stop it as there is no opportunity given to talk to a company representative, only leave a voice mail message as prompted by a phonebot with a British accent.
I contacted my cell phone carrier, who is Verizon, several times and their only reply was that it was third party billing and there was nothing they could do. I then told them that I was not paying that portion of the bill (and had not from the beginning), and would not. Because it's third party billing, the carrier can not turn off your cell phone service. That's when it stopped.
You might want to try this if you haven't already, but if it's coming directly out of your bank account, you may have to close the account to stop it. If this is the case, file a claim with your bank as a disputed charge telling them it was unauthorized.
Hope this helps and hope you can get out of this.

Rebuttal is a Joke!

The Rebuttal posted to this Compliant is a Joke. I too am a victim of this SCAM and none of the Suggested remidies will work. And the phone number gives no method of getting the billing stopped. You can't talk to a real person and sending a STOP message is a waste of time! I have replied to the email address, but haven't gotten a response. Government intervention is the only hope because Verizon is appearntly getting a share of the fee and they refuse to help.
