I've been unemployed for some time and my funds were running out of my checking account so I drew a check against my line of credit from my credit card account and deposited it into my checking account.

Some days later I learned the check bounced so I called customer service at Chase and I learned that my line of credit was still in place for $3,500 (the check was for $1,800). The girl said that no check was presented to
Chase when she looked up my account. She manually transferred $1,800 into my account.

Three weeks later I needed more money so I drew another check for $1,100 which also came back insufficient. I called Chase again, gave a girl an earful and got a supervisor who checked out the records more thoroughly and discovered that I had two credit card accounts!

The second account has a line of credit for
$1,000. This supervisor waived a $36 charge
on the account for the returned check, but
I'm still not satisfied as my checking account got hit with fees let alone what may show up on my credit report since it went into the red.

What the full story is I don't know. I can say that I built a storehouse of checks to be used (since I've been out of work for so long - I don't see any checks for the account with the loc for $3,500, but I do have a letter saying that I'm supposed to have checks for that account which prompted me to use them in the first place).

I'm left holding the bag and I know that Chase won't accommodate me any further since I should have gotten a full explanation on why the first check bounced. Needless to say I won't be able to pursue this one in court
so for the future I won't rely on Chase anymore and I'm posting this report on Ripoff Report to let others know.

PS I'm happily employed in a sales position so I'm in no financial danger beyond what I reported as my cash flow is growing.

Typical Response From Chase

AUTHOR: Sylvia - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 17, 2006

Chase employees cannot follow simple directions. It says "don't use all Capital Letters". They don't listen to anyone either.

But of course they have to yell. I have never met a pleasant, courteous or uncold person working for this company. They just know how to cut people down and belittle them.

AUTHOR: L - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 12, 2006

CALL AHEAD OF TIME TO VERIFY WHAT CHECKS ARE FOR WHAT ACCT. THE #'S AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CHECK LIST THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF THE ACCT # THEY ARE ASSOCIATED WITH. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT WHEN YOU HAVE MORE THAT ONE ACCOUNT WITH THE SAME BANK.
