I signed up for a (chase bank) Sony credit card about  four years ago and promptly bought a PS3 with it. At the time I signed up for the card it was offered as electronic billing (paperless) so I thought I'd be envionmentally "green" and opted for that. We paid for the PS3 with our new Chase bank / Sony card online account. Life went on, we did as anyone does and when asked for a credit card we apparently must have used the Sony/ Chase card when paying for some item(s). We did get a few emails from Chase bank saying we could go online to review our monthly statement but my wife said she couldn't log on anymore because the web site credentials did not allow it . Remember that we had already logged on previously to pay for a $500 system. Now we couldn't log on with the credentials already established.

Anyway, one day a collections company called and told me there was an outstanding balance on a credit card account and the total with 6 months of late fees ($180) brought that amount to well over $300. I laughed at the man thinking it was some kind of a joke....I mean what kind of person with superb FICO score would let a $157 balance knowingly go for 6 months to see his FICO score go down by a hundred points especially when there was money to pay the original bill in it's entirety when first notified? Any decent person or company would CALL by phone if there was an outstanding balance , right? ....Apparently Chase doesn't believe that as simply allowing $30 monthly late fees stacking up are very profitable! Well, Thats' what happened thanks to the terrible non-communication on the part of Chase Bank with this now canceled Chase-Sony credit card. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth as I now get to watch my credit score s-l-o-w-l-y crawl out of the sub-700 score range thanks to deceptive and inadequate billing notification practices of Chase bank. Hey, Sony chose that bank to offer their customers the card to. IMHO, Sony gets a black eye for linking their customers with this deceptive bank.

The answer is simple..the kind of person is your wife.  Because you admit that they sent you e-mails to check your statement.  You(well your wife) tried to go on-line and couldn't.  But instead of calling them to find out why she apparently just ignored it.

No RipOff here on the part of Chase, so hope you enjoy watching your Credit Score rise up again thanks to your wife.
