I received my January Chase credit card bill and noted my minimum payment had gone from 2% of my outstanding balance to 5%, plus a $10 service charge was added. I have an outstanding balance I have been paying off at a locked in 3.99%. When called Customer No Service related a notice had been sent in November and I had 3 options, pay off the enitre outstanding balance (which would cost me less because I would pay it off sooner), make the required payment, or move the outstanding balance to a higher interest rate and pay a 2% minimum payment without a service charge. When asked if this change affected all customers I was told no, only customers like me because Chase wasn't making money off me and had to find a way to make money.
I will no longer do business with these people and urge all others to terminate their accounts with these rip offs.

Yes I know some will say, then the fine print they can do anything they want. But when I took their offer of 3.99% I actually called to make sure rate would not change and what would the minimum payment would be. I was reassured by the account rep it would be 3.99% for the life of the loan, and the 2% minimum. I don't know of what they're doing is illegal, but in my opinion it is unethical and immoral.
