I have been a long time customer of Chase and have ALWAYS paid my card on time and more than minimum payment. I always schedule my payment to be taken out of my bank account at least a week before the due date. I schedule the payment to be paid 1-2 days before it's due.
I was checking my bank account and noticed that the payment had not processed so I went to the chase site to check my account. I saw that no payment was credited and I had a $40 late fee. I immediately called their customer service and got a very rude service person. I explaind that I had scheduled the payment and so on and she got very nasty and said there was nothing they could do about the late fee charge. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she accused me of saying something to her which I did not. They record those conversations so I have proof. I have no idea what she was talking about and she just went off on me. Weird. The supervisor said there was no record of any payment. I said I could see that but it didn't change the fact that I had scheduled it a week or so before the due date. He said there was noting they could do.
I ended up talking to another manager who told me he was getting calls like mine all day. He said there had been issues with the website and something happened and payments were not processed. Even though they knew there was a problem on there end, they still refused to remove the charge. I can't believe that they treat their good, long standing customers this way. I can see if it was my error...but it was theirs and they knew about it.
I have transferred my balance and closed all my accounts with them. I will never do business with a company that cheats and disrespects their customers this way. I recommend that people with accounts with Chase watch them VERY closely. If they would do this, it's hard telling what else they would do. Obviously, they could care less about their customers.

As I said, I have been a long standing customer and have been scheduling payments all along with no issues. I never gave it a thought when I deleted the confirmation of my scheduled payment email. I have learned my lesson about that for sure.
But, the point still is that they knew there was an issue on their part with the payments not going through and refused to do anything about it. They could see from my past record that I had never been late or even close to it. They could have handled things so much better than they did.

Once that payment was scheduled.....you should have received a confirmation number of some kind....or some indication that it was scheduled for a future date....even 1 to 2 days.
I schedule all my payments once a month when I go in to pay the first one that's due. I also print out the page that shows that it was scheduled and how much.

I also schedule my payments online daily as the bill comes in, did you note the reference or confirmation number down when you confirmed this transaction?
Hopefully you did as this is all you need to prove you are right no matter who you are dealing with.
