I just finished reading the 57 pages of Citimortgage horror stories on the website www.alexking.org and don't understand how this lender can keep doing these horrible things to people with impunity.

My Story:
In October 2006, I refinanced my home in Virginia and purchased a second home in Michigan with financing through Flagstar Bank. In May 2006 the loans were transferred to Citimortgage and that's when the really big problems began. In late September, I received a letter from Flagstar stating that beginning October 1, all payments should be made to Citimortgage.

However, when October 1 rolled around, I had not received any payment coupons or notification from Citimortgage and when I called their customer service department, I reached a rep that could barely speak English and did not understand what I was talking about. I went online but there were no accounts listed under my name or social security number.

I logically assumed, that the best thing to do was to mail my October payments to Flagstar and let them transfer the payments to Citimortgage. Early in October I received a foreclosure notice from Flagstar stating that I was 3 months in arrears!

I immediately gathered all my documentation (cancelled checks, bank statements, online payment confirmations, etc.) and sent them to both Flagstar and Citimortgage along with a letter stating my "case".

I then started receiving foreclosure notices from Citimortgage! I continued sending payments on time thinking that eventually the payments would "catch-up" with their accounting system somehow. Little did I know how wrong I was. The Michigan property was never put online and whenever I called Citimortgage, their automated system gave me 3 accounts to choose from - all with the wrong dates! So I never really knew whether I was pushing the right number or not and the Michigan property was never placed on line for payment.

I could not get this error corrected no matter how many times I tried. To this day, if you call Citimortgage it will give you 3 mortgages to choose from by saying "if you want to access the mortgage of March 06, press 1, if you want to access the mortgage of March 07 press 2, If you want to access the mortgage of May 07 press 3".

When Citimortgage placed my Michigan property in foreclosue the first time, I was incredulous. I called every single day, at least 3 times a day; each call taking at least 1-1/2 hours with no resolution and no information.

I finally called Trott & Trott, the law firm that handles foreclosure litigation on behalf of Citimortgage. They have a 248 area code which indicates they are in Michigan but I subsequently found out that they are located in St. Louis!

In the meantime, I was making double payments to forestall any litigation - but the payments were never properly applied! They were cross-applying the mortgage payments so that my Michigan property indicated it was in arrears while they were holding payments in "escrow" because they didn't know where to apply them!

It took me until March of 07 to finally figure this out. Between October 06 and March 07, I sent my documentatin at least 8 times but it mysteriously kept disappearing.

I sent all my documentation again in October, January, February and March along with a $4,000 check and and documentation of $9933 in "overpayments" that have been applied to nothing.

The $4,000 check remains uncashed. I called HOPE NOW with expectation that they may be abe to help me get through to Citimortgage only to find out during a 3-way conversation that they have again placed both properties in foreclosure with never notifying me.

It seems that they have been sending all mail to my vacation home in Michigan contrary to all other mailings they have sent in the past.

HOPE NOW advised that I need an attorney immediately to deal with Citimortgage, stop the foreclosures, and force an "audit" of my account. I have been tryhing to get a response from an attorney all day - with no success.

Citimortgage has quite literally ruined my career,my credit, and are taking my homes as of Friday, March 21th. Oh yeah, I was dismissed from my job because I could not pass the background check with the reporting of the foreclosure to the CRA's.

I cannot get another job unless I can pass the background check which means that with the lousy credit, no job, and a foreclosure looming just a few days away - I cannot possibly qualify for a refinance.

If this isn't predatory lending - I sure would like to know the definition of predatory lending. Happy birthday to me - I'll be 62 tomorrow and am homeless and jobless thanks to Citimortgage customer service. Aint life grand!
