Our loan was bought by Citimortage in 2005. They sent me a statemewnt that my first payment was not due for another 2 months. Then, they sent me a letter that they made a mistake and that my first payemnt was overdue but it would not be reported to the credit bureau due to it being there fault.
Needless to say, they would get my check, cash it, and send me default letters on our home as well as reporting this to the credit beruaes which has DESTROYED MY CREDIT!.
Ever month i would spend 20-30 hours on the phone and faxing them there own letters on thier letterhead that they would not report this to the creditros and they would verbally apologize and state it will be taken off and it never was. They would send me certified letters that my house was going into defaut due to non-payment, only days after they would cash my check!
I have since sold that home and am now paing a higher interest rate due to what they have WRONGLY reported on my credit. THE ARE THE WORST COMPANY EVER TO DEAL WITH. THE ARE TOTALLY UNETHICAL!

Hi Doug,
If you have a letter from citi mortgage stating the error will be corrected, you should be able to submit that the cbr and have it corrected. Now here is the catch, from your statement, you didnt make a mortgage payment for 2 months, but everytime you made a payment, you got a letter afterward saying you were delinquent. It sounds like you were always 1 payment behind, so you that would be reported to cbr as a rolling 30 day delinq, and that would definitely hurt your score. If the latter was the case with being 1 payment behind, nothing you do about fixing your credit

You, need to sue them for damanges if u have your bank statements to prove u paid on the due date & citibank refuses to correct the late on your credit, u have the right to sue them for damangines. Also, they could be fined for reporting false information to your credit if it is not your fault.

The manual underwriting that Dave from Jacksonville refers to pertains to a new mortgage on a different home for Doug from FL. Doug stated in his report that he has since sold the home in question, and that he is now paying a higher interest rate (presumably on a different home with a different mortgage company) because of the damage to his credit score brought on by Citimortgage.
Dave from Jacksonville is asking why Doug did not pursue manual underwriting for his new mortgage, when he has in writing, that Citimortgage erroneously reported damaging information to credit bureaus. It's a valid question.
For anyone trying to refinance to get out from under a predatory lender that has already reported late payments to credit bureaus, be aware that there are mortgage companies that do manual underwriting. This means they will take into account more criteria than just your credit score - a real human being looking at the bigger picture of your situation. If you have documentation that you have paid (cleared checks that never showed up being credited to your mortgage), or documentation that the negative entries to your credit report are in error (the admission from Citibank on their own letterhead, for example), then start calling mortgage companies and ask if they do manual underwriting. Don't let the damaged credit score keep you from escaping the grasp of these mortgage companies.

No excuse for the above incorrect posting for the above. I don't want to offend citizens of either city. My opinion of the practices of the lender still stands regardless of the geographic location. I apologize.

Loans are bought and sold on the secondary market often. Correct? Yes, maybe a person might question why someone would allow quite some time to pass before having a payment posted to their mortgage. The law allows 60 days for resolution if a person sends payment to the wrong creditor when a loan is bought/sold.
More importantly, the law offers weight to the mortgagee inregards to the mortgage terms. All terms and conditions are to be honored regardless of which company buys the loan. There is absolutely no need to send copies of the mortgage to the new mortgager for "manual underwriting." The underwriting occured prior to closing on the original loan. Attempts to confuse mortgagees reeks. Remember the old adage, "If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance then baffle 'em with..." The response of the St Pete resident is neither dazzling nor baffling.
Citibanks apparent servicing of the loan is shameful.

I too have been a victim. All the rip offs with Citi Mortgage sound very familiar especially the one with them losing the checks even though you have the cancelled ones in hand, they force you into a forbearance. My husband got sick and they refused the disability in our contract and our insurance. The lawyer who tried to help us said they owed us close to $20,000 with all their mistakes. They break the laws but HUD and the governments do nothing to enforce them.
I had to sell my house, and I made no money because of them. But remember they are part of Citi Group behind Enron and World Com. They have no morals no ethics. Little people mean nothing unless we can all get together to get them. My case is going to be part of a class action suit being part together by the Attorney General of my State but that could take years unless she gets one hell of a lot of publicity.

Did you over pay your mortgage?

Is there any reasonable explanation that you can think of as to why they would defer 1 month's mortgage? Did you pay both months when they realized their error?
If the answer to both of the above questions is no, then you have a problem. My mortgage was just bought my Citi, due date next month... My first reaction is to call them and make sure everything is good, address, account number, payment date, etc.. Just for my own piece of mind. Why didn't you call them when your payment date was incorrect? Why would any company let a house payment slide 1 month? Use your head next time.
Plus, you have letters stating it was their error. Why not send copies to the CBs? Why didn't you present the copies to the new mortgage company for a manual underwriting? Sounds like you have left out a lot in this post...
