Upon signing up for a membership with Club Tan, I was attacked in the parking lot verbally after I safely arrived at my car. I had discovered they used insufficient means to protect credit card information - I immediately walked to my car and drove home. I wrote a letter to cancel my membership and within the 72 Hours allowed by Oregon state Law to cancel any contract. Club tan has harrassed me for a year ever since. I have the cell phone bills where their calls on my phone to prove it!

maybe your cancellation wasnt valid...

The law states that cancellations must be post marked within 72 hours and it sounds like you did this, however, if you used any of the services or if it was, in fact, not valid, then the request can legally be denied and they do not have to cancel your package or payments.
I found this out the hard way, and was refused cancellation as well, however, I am a responsible adult and acknowledged that my cancellation was not valid and have upheld my end of the contract. Since then, I have received wonderful customer service, the best deals and even a free tan or two!
Know what you are signing, be responsible and dont blame others for your mistakes!
