After renting my current home for 6 years, my family & I realized that we had out grown our home & decided to move to a new home closer to the city. I contacted Colony American Homes about a home that I viewed on Zillow. July 11, 2014 I met with Crystal Deese to view the home. After viewing the home I fell in Love with it & decided to apply for it. While conversating with Crystal she had informed me that 4 applicants before me had got approved for the home but ended up having situations occur that in the end the company changed their mind on their approval. After hearing that I was a little hesitant but still decided to apply. A few days later after submitting my application I received a text from Crystal stating I was approved and could come sign the lease on Weds, (which was 2 days later) After jumping up & down with my children & fiance, full of excitement I then put in my 30 days notice with my current landlord. I also got a call about another home I applied for & told them I was going to go with this other home instead.
The next day i recieved a call from Crystal stating that they found a felony on my criminal background and had some concerns. Me having a Felony WAS NOT TRUE, and told her I could provide proof. The charge they were referring to was actually a 12 year old misdemeanor. I called the courts & had to wait for them to mail the record to me. Crystal said everything was fine, just get the record from the courts & bring it in when it comes. When I finally recieved the record I could not get a hold of Crystal. She would ignore my text & calls. One text I explained how school was starting in a week & needed to enroll my children either in the new area or my currnet area NO REPONSE. She finally text me back days later telling me where to drop the Court Letter off & after doing that, I again could not get a hold of Crystal. Finally I called the main Atlanta Office & Stacy ( the manager) kept hanging up on me. At this point I gave up on this home & decided to Enroll my children in our current school zone & get back on my home search. Crystal text me out of the blue apologizing stating the office had been closed & she could not get in to get my application process going (Very STRANGE HUH?) She ensured me that she would have everything handled THAT DAY. I started to gain hope again on this home & stopped my current search.
From this point on, a month later I have not heard from CRYSTAL. Not only did i miss out on another home I liked, put in my 30 day notice with my current home, Enrolled my children in school late & now I will have to move them to another school half way through the school year, I got the run around & lost out on $170 application app. Im not sure if thats what they do to everyone but that level of unprofessionalism needs to be brought to any future applicants attention. Do Not Use any of the COLONY AMERICAN HOMES agents to find you a new home.
