I was promised by Colony American that, even though I left my lease ealy as long as I cleaned the property properly, left it in good condition and continued to pay my lease until the house was rented to someone else I would receive my deposit back.

After repeated calls to Colony American I've been told yes and no and finally no by the Tampa office saying that "I was owed nothing since I broke my lease".

So why did I bust my tail cleaning the property and making repairs to things that were broken when I arrived at t he property?  Was this just a ruse on their part for me to clean the property and make sure I continued to make my lease payments?  They are not going to be out any money whatsoever.  This decision is a crock.  Do not lease from Colony American under any circumstances.  They will promise the world and leave you with a pile of crap in return!

What a goober

Yes I read, and yes I listened to what the people at their local and corporate offices said which was clearly stated and backed up in very legally presentable email format that a refund of the deposit would be granted if the property was left clean and my monthly rental payments were made till the property was rented.'

This has since been rectified by Colony American so I retract anything negative I said about them.  For you however; you need to learn that there is contract law that can be modified by documented statements that can be proven.

Deposites...

Deposites tend to be forfieted when you break a lease. Did YOU perhaps READ what YOU were signing BEFORE you signed it?? Odds are that YOU DID NOT READ!!! So YOU actually have no idea WHAT your rights as someone who has LEASED a property are. As for YOU making your payments on time and continuing to make your payments, THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO!!!! YOU signed a CONTRACT for the use of that property. YOU are the deadbeat for breaking the CONTRACT!!! So how is YOU not getting back YOUR deposit a ripoff?/ YOU BROKE THE LEASE!!! At the end of the day, YOU are the responsibile party. YOU broke the lease. To expect a refund is SILLY on your part. The COST of breaking a lease is the forfieture of your deposit!!!So REALLY the wisest course of action is to NOT DO BUSINESS WITH YOU!!!!!! YOU EVEN ADMIT TO THE WEB THAT YOU BROKE THE LEASE!!!!Im more inclined to deal with THEM as it appears that they follow the terms and conditions of the contract before I would EVER do any business with YOU!!! Someone who thinks its PERFECTLY OK to break a lease signed in GOOD FAITH!!!
