Compass Bank Changing order of transactions throughout day Houston Texas
*Consumer Comment: You Victimized Yourself
*Consumer Comment: Questions...
Along with manipulating transactions to produce NSF fees, throughout the day, Compass changes the order of transactions already posted online. Compass did this to cause a $1.98 OD despite a $932.01 direct deposit to rack up hundreds of dollars NSF/OD fees.

You Victimized Yourself

All banks post transactions in descending dollar order, not when the transactions took place. Even if you have printouts showing this, it is irrelevant because the practice is not only allowed in this industry, it is part of the terms and conditions in your account.
If you incurred an OD, then you are admitting you spent money you did not have available in your account; yes, that means your direct deposit is not available immediately either. See, deposits post after the debits/checks clear the account.
You would be wise to stop using your ATM/Cash card as a debit card. You will rack up more OD fees than you can count. In addition, keep a written check register - you'll never need to check a balance online EVER if you keep one. The only reason one ever needs to check online for their account is to (1) track any fees the bank posts to your account, or (2) review for fraudulent transactions.

#1 Did the transactions online show as "processing" or pending? Or did the show as posted the previous business day? If they showed as "processing" or "pending" that means that the bank knew they were going to post that night NOT that they had posted.
#2 What date did the direct deposit credit (post) versus the date the fees posted? If you overdrew your account on Thurday, you can't use your Fridaye direct deposit to cover.
#3 Why are you using online banking to watch your account instead of a check register with every transaction written down? If you kept a register, you would have seen the last transaction you did would have caused an overdraft and then not done the transaction and not gotten the fee.
