I was shopping for an extended warranty on my 2003 vehicle when I was contacted by Continental Warranty. The lady on the phone seemed pleasant enough at first until I asked her to send me her warranty so I could compare to others, that's when it all went south.
They won't mail,fax, or e-mail a copy because they know it's a lousy warranty. Instead they insist that you put money down now and they will send it to you. If you don't like it they will refund your money.
After hanging up on the Sales lady because I told her I wasn't interested, she called back ( can you believe that) told me I have to make my mind up now, because this is such a great deal and it won't be offered tomorrow.
I was a sucker and took the bait. When she switched me over to the finance dept. for verification and payment they taped our conversation so they had proof you said yes. while being recorded they said the warranty would be shipped in a few days and rattled off something about an additive to be put in your radiator would come to me also. I said I didn't want the additive just the warranty. I was told by a supervisor that I had to have both.
The secret about that is that it makes it hard to get your money back if you decide you don't like the warranty. If you put the additive in your radiator you can kiss your deposit good-bye! They say that the product will make your engine run cooler. Fraud!, the engine will run at whatever level the thermostat is set at.
I was told that I could continue to service my vehicle myself and still be covered under their warranty. Fraud!!, when I recieved the warranty it said even an oil change had to be done by a licensed mechanic and it had to be performed every 4,000 miles even though my vehicles service manual suggests every 7,500 miles.
The warranty Sucks!! The parts that break down the most are not covered. No electrical, fuel delivery, or computer parts are covered. If you fall for their high pressure tactics refuse all packages and mailings sent to you. It's your only hope of getting your deposit back. I got mine back in thirty days when in reality it only should take a couple of days to credit back on a card. Continetal must need the interest off your money!
