After paying almost $2,000.00 for a Freedom Plus plan from Continental Warranty, I was denied a $600.00 claim the first time I tried to use it. I took my 2003 vehicle to the dealer to repair the climate control, it wasn't working. I checked my owners manual from Continental Warranty to verify they covered the Climate Control, sure enough they did (at least it is in writing), after all it was represented to me from them that it was a bumper to bumper warranty.
I informed the dealership of the extended warranty, after diagnossing the problem they called Continental, Continental denied the claim saying the part failure was a NON-LISTED, NON-COVERED part. The dealership notified me and I called Continental.
The first person I talked to gave me the run around and didn't have a clue about vehicles, she then referred me to the underwriters of the policy. I explained to them that Climate Control system is warrantied as per my agreement and should be covered by them, he informed me that the part that failed was not a listed item under climate control (there is not any parts listed under CLIMATE Control). I informed him that the climate control will not function without this part and no where in my policy does it state "NON LISTED PARTS WILL NOT BE COVERED."
We argued for about 30 minutes getting no where, except for them telling me that everytime I use my extended warranty there is a 1 in 10 chance the claim will be denied. This being the first time in two years I tried to use the warranty and the claim denied I told them those odds were not good enough and I wanted my money back. He asked what he could do to keep my business, I said pay the claim?? Was denied again I have submitted the paper work for my refund we will see how they respond to this

Your warranty should have came with a twenty page booklet. Did you not receive one?

Bumper to Bumper
AUTHOR: Ron - (U.S.A.)

As I stated in my original document, I was supposedly sold a Bumper to Bumper policy! I asked the representative three different times about bumper to bumper, no exclusions, no limitations, all three times the answer came back BUMPER TO BUMPER. I have owned these policies before that only cover certain items and I wanted a BUMPER TO BUMPER. The only place in the warranty book that has the statement, "items not listed not covered" is in the engine section.
The engine is having problems now, so once again we will see about your warranty?

Your contract...

The Freedom Plus Plan comes with a contract that lists exactly what's covered under your AIR CONDITIONING system... It's not labeled as your CLIMATE CONTROL system.
However, in your contract, it is also expressed very clearly that ANY COMPONENT THAT IS NOT LISTED WILL NOT BE COVERED. This is listed under the What is Not Covered section of your warranty...
