Cpi Security came to my residence to do a site survey. The sale rep. did a credit check and advised me I didnt qualify. After talking with the sales rep. he advised me if I bought several options that probably would qualify me.
I wrote him a check for 496.00. I aked the sales rep. would my check be deposited if I didnt qualify after the underwriters viewed my file. He advised me NO. He stated my check would be mailed back.
After several days I was notified by the rep. that I didnt qualify and my check was being mailed back. To my suprise I paid bills out of my checking account assuming the 496.00 was still there. CPI deposited my check and I had almost 400.00 service charges debited to my checking account by my bank.
I called CPI very upset. The advised my money would be sent back in the mail. I explained to them that they deposited my money wrongly and their sales rep advised me it would not be deposited since I didnt quailfy. The customer care person advised me they deposited me check even though I couldnt get an alarm system. I advised him CPI stole my money.
This happened September 11 2006. Today is October 1 2006 and I have not recieved my money back yet. I will post ads in the local editorials and the local news channels. CPI Security in my experience is a BIG rip off.

Take These Guys to the District Attorney
AUTHOR: Helene - (U.S.A.)

If you still have your cancelled check, take it to the District Attorney's office in the county where you live and FILE charges of THEFT on these people. I think it would be FRAUD!
You paid for a service. They not only did not provide the service but the cashed your check and user the money and they have refused to give you refund.
They were NOT entitled to keep your money unless...
Better read any papers that you got from them, especially if you signed anything and make sure that somewhere in tiny print there was NO mention where you agreed to pay a "consultant fee" or reimburse the person from CPI Security for coming to your house and making an evaluation of your property. Or anything that gives them any reason to keep your money should they not provide you service.
Don't stop at the District Attorney's office!
Some agency in your state is responsible for licensing all security companies, alarm companies, security consultants, etc. and you need to find out who that would be and call them up and FILE A COMPLAINT on CPI Security! They might not even be properly licensed to do business in your state as a security company. TURN THEM IN!
You also need to file another complaint for FRAUD on CPI Security with the attorney general of the state where you live and write a letter to your state representative and state senator and tell them what CPI security did to you and see if they can enact legislation against companies who defraud peopel like you.
You MIGHT be able to sue them in small claims court and get a judgement against them. Don't just sue the company, sue the salesperson or whoever it was who came out and talked to you and everybody who is involved with them! Make them file for bankruptcy and put them out of business! Permanently.
