To facilitate a smooth auto move, I arranged to prepay the $800.00 fee that would normally be paid COD. Debbie Girourard, senior transport co-ordinator, said it was not a problem and to pay the driver who picked up the car. On pick-up day I found out that Cross Country uses sub-contractors regardless of their competency. The truck driver worked for Bher, Inc. and did not have any paperwork regarding the pick-up, not even a generic receipt book for the payment that I gave him. I made a receipt myself with the license # of the vehicle on it and the driver signed it.

A couple of days before the car was to be delivered, I called customer service to try to get an exact delivery date. They gave me a 2-day window (Friday/Saturday Feb 6/7th) and said that $800.00 was due on delivery. I explained to Ralph that this transaction was prepaid. He had not received that info but assured me that it would be taken care of before delivery.

At about midnight on Friday Feb.6th my new boss at the delivery site got a call from the driver that he would bring the car in at 2-3 am. My boss managed to negotiate the delivery to 5 am. Upon arrival, the driver would not take the car off the transport truck until he was paid (again) $800.00. My boss paid the driver and I reimbursed him a few days later.

I have made 3-4 calls per week since trying to straighten this mess out and get my $800.00 back. Customer service keeps putting the blame on the truck company and want me to chase them down for my money. The truck company tells me (get this) the check is in the mail. They said it was sent to the wrong address once and returned, but a certified check is on the way. I left multiple correct address messages on their machine, by the way is all you normally get to talk to. They answer the phone maybe 1 out of 6 times and never return calls. I did manage to leave the correct address 3 times, twice with dispatch and once with Mr. Williams the owner/operator.

Bottom line is Cross Country and Bher, Inc. are either dishonest or incredibly incompetent. Either one produces the same result, I am out $800 and they refuse to get it right.
