A face cream called, among other names, DermaLuxe pops up on the internet, or is attributed to a famous personality on the cover stories on Yahoo search engine. One day it's Meryl Streep, another time it's Christie Brinkely. It could be anyone. It promises to eliminate wrinkles, smooth ruddy skin, and tighten the face all over. The ad claims that it works in conjunction wtih another product, an eye serum, that also pops up. From the testimonials that are quoted, within two weeks, any or all of the above promises will occur. In addition, and this is how they really get sales, they claim you can receive a "sample" of the cream for a one time fee of $4.95 for shipping and handling. It is factnot a one time fee. What they do not reveal as boldly as the purchase, is the very small hidden print where it says you must call to get a return authorization within 14 days, should the cream not meet your expectations.. If you do not call, they charge you full price for your "sample" which comes to $103.79. They also enroll your card for a 30 day revolving order of that same product. The ads are deliberately misleading.
I emailed them upon an email notification that my account was being charged automatically. The women with whom I spoke was a bully, and kept repeating that it was my fault for not reading the fine print. I responded that in fact they were deliberatley misrepresenting the marketing, and that I was trying to resolve this issue and return the product, which was completely useless, and did not fulfill any part of the claims made. I was able to get them to not send out a new order, so I did not owe them the charge for same. She told me she could eliminate the charge for the unsent product with "the push of a button" however, unless I called my card company and had them call her specifically, that they would keep the charge on my card. A charge for an acknowledged cancelled item. When I asked her why, she said she had told me many times over this was my fault. I called my credit card who advised me that they had an agreement with all vendors, and they would take care of the charges, and block the company. The company told me if I didnt call them, they would continue to send the product on a monthly cycle. Very agressive, very misleading all around. It seems they will attempt future charges under the guise of a different company name. This is blatent marketing of an inferior product by an unscrupulous company. They've also loaded the search engine with reports that the company is great and so is the product. If you try to leave any kind of negative feedback they dont allow you to respond.
