On a reputable camera review website (CameraLabs.com) I saw an AD from Digitalpros.com for a Nikon D5200 dSLR I wanted to buy. The Digital Pros AD offered this camera 'on special' for a price of $284.00 with free delivery. The website displayed a countdown timer showing the special was good through such-and-such a date (which I later learned was just a gimmick - the counter always displays an end date 48 hours later than the time of your visit to the site).

I clicked on the AD, read everything and placed an order for the camera through their website.

You can see a jpeg of the ad by clicking the link: http://tinyurl.com/lqwm2bo

The next day I received an email from the company asking that I call to confirm my order. When I called, the representative (Bruce) asked if I was aware thatthe camera I had ordered was not a US model, and that it did not have English as a language option in its software.

I told him I had assumed the camera was grey market due to the low price, and I sked him if he was sure that this camera did not have Emglish installed as a language option. He insisted it did not. (I can't say he lied because I can't prove it, but every foreig and grey market camera I've ever seen still has English installed on it).

He then told me that for just an additional $316 I could order the camera with English.

I asked why his company, based in the, US was advertising a non-english camera on an English language website - and not specifying in the AD that the camera did not come with English installed. He had no answer was incredibly rude and arrogant.

What a scam this company is. Now that I've read many of the hundreds and hundreds of complaints I've found on the web, I am very grateful that I cancelled my order (and thank fully, my credit card was not charged by the company). Still, it makes my skin crawl to think they have my information.

This was a very frustratin experience - made worse by the fact that after I placed the order, in anticipation fo receiving the camera I purchased two lenses for it (from somewhere else).

Avoid these crooks like the plague.
