I Applied For A Credit Card Offer From First Equity Card Corp Roughly 3-4 Months Ago. The Enticement To Do So Was For A Low Interest Rate On Balance Transfers.
I Received The Card With NO ADDITIONAL INFORMATION And Put It Aside For A Few Weeks.
I Activated The Card By Phone, And Called Their Customer Service Center Advising Them Of A Balance Transfer From Capital One. The Individual Stated I Needed To Use A Convenience Check To Do This, And Would Mail Them To Me Which I Received In A Few Short Days.
I Transferred $2,000.00 From Capital One To The First Equity Account Using The Check As I Was Told.
My First Statement From First Equity Arrives Showing
$2,000.00 In Cash Advances At 24.32%!!!!
To Add Insult They Attached An OVER THE LIMIT FEE Of $39.00!!! Their Basing The Daily Rate On $800.38 In Cash Advances On The Statement..!!!????
My Balance Is Now At 2,115.77 At 24.32% Interest,
When Capital One Was At 18.00%!!!
When I Called To Plead My Case,
First Equity Claimed I Had No Balance Transfer Promotion On My Account...??? I Was Informed That I Did Not Qualify For That....??? I Received No Answer As To WHY They Would Have Sent A Card I Did Not Qualify For....???
(Nor Was Informed Of This When I Was Inquiring
About The Balance Transfer To Begin With)...
If This Isn't Blatant False Advertisement
And Or Embezzlement, I Don't Know What Is Then...!!
Im Completely LIVID, and I Fully Intend To Continue This Complaint To My State Congressman , Federal Authorities
Who Govern The Credit Card Industry, State Attorney General's Office, Better Business Bureau, Banking Regulators, And Any Other Agency I Can Find...
First Equity Is Blatantly Taking Advantage Of Consumers
With This Fast Spin Move...
I Have Never In My 40 Years Seen Anything Like This.
I Have NEVER Had A Driven Desire, Or Determination To Seek Restitution Or Compensation From Anyone For Anything In My Life Until Now.
This Is As WRONG As WRONG Can Get!!

i guess you learned a valuable lesson, That little booklet you received in the beginning of your credit experience with first equity gives all of the information you need in order to be a well informed, well educated customer. it's your terms and disclosures. and yes! we do expect you to read all of that! as well as expect you to do your part as a responsible consumer, in that booklet it clearly lists that using a convienience check is the equivalent to a cash advance. and that is the only option FE uses for balance transfers. therefore you take a cash advance to pay off another credit balance. the fee for that is 3% or $10. WHICHEVER IS GREATER. i am sure all that time you spent writing letters to business bureaus, comptrollers of currency, and all that other hoopla.didnt go to waste. i bet they enjoyed a great chuckle at your expense. nothing FE does is illegal, if so, you would have lawyer after lawyer contacting you. trying to get money from your pocket so they could try our Outstanding legal team in court. So, it's really just a matter of being a responsible cunsumer.

Well, Here Is The Update To My Situation With First Equity.
I Filed A Total Of 5 Complaints:
1) State Congressman
2) State Attorney General
3) Office of Compliance and Consumer Programs
4) Office Of The Comptroller Of The Currency
5) The Better Business Bureau
I Called Capital One And Explained The Situation To Them.
They Too Have Heard About The Dirty Dealings Of First Equity.
The Account Specialist At Capital One Was More Than Gracious,
They Accepted The Balance Back, Gave Me
"Better Rate Than First Equity Was Offering",
And The Rate Is Solid, It Will Never Change...
Which Goes To Show That I Should Have Asked Capital One
To Adjust The Rate To Begin With..
This Little Adventure Cost Me $125.00 In The End...
And That's The Limit Of Any Kind Of Business I Will Ever Do With First Equity.
