This company was kind enough to issue me a no annual fee corporate credit card. They were also kind enough to assess me an annual fee on my first statement. After that they never sent me a statement and have been assessing monthly late fees at $39.00 a pop.

When contacted on several occasions, I spoke to several different supervisors and got was able to determine that no one at this company knows why I am being assessed late fees, and that my statements are going out (according to their computer) and not being returned. I am however still being assessed a monthly late fee! Rather than try to fix this problem I am forced to have to call by the first of every month to determine my amount due over the phone, and then mail my payment in to avoid any late fees. Absurd in my opinion but I thought others should know what they are getting into when they try to save a few bucks by going with this company.... I hate em....i.e. this company (First Equity Card) is a subsidiary of:
Synovus Technologies Inc.

Responding to your childish comment

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 01, 2004

Hey Mike. What idiot would charge $100,000 to a credit card? Why not take out a business loan if you need that much money? You must be a really horrible businessman. And no sir I WILL NOT wire you money. Its not my fault that you mismanage your money. Now you are in a bind with this company. I am almost certain that you are one of those people who think just because you don't receive the bill, or so you say, that you don't have to pay it. You swiped the card buddy, now you gotta pay the price. But I must admit I would probably lie a couple months and say I didn't get the bill either if it would buy me some time.

P.S. And by the way I am not having sex with "these people" on a regular basis. However me and your mom are having a fine time, and I am sleeping quite well.

Okay now that my childish response to your childish post is out of the way:

All I was trying to say in the beginning was that you needed to close the account. Try to find some lower apr's and do some balance transfers, loans, something to stop paying this particular company finance charges if the service is so crappy. If indeed this card did give you a hundred K credit line I am almost sure that you received other offers at lower rates as well.

The truth of the matter is that these credit card companies--all of them--are out to get you one way or another, as everyone should already know. And from the looks of it First Equity doesn't even seem to be a heavy weight in the credit card arena in the first place so I don't think you have anything to worry about. They will probably get bought out by another company in the future just like all the others.

Put It In Writing

You need to write to this company, certified mail, return receipt requested, and demand copies of all statements that have not been received. Advise them that you require monthly statements in order to pay them. If they then refuse to send you monthly statements, report them to the (check the FTC website and your State Attorney General's website for further information). Pay this company weekly if you can, or at least twice a month in order to keep from being assessed late charges.

Hey Joe? Keep your opinions to yourself!

So Joe, toss me a hundred K and I'll be happy to close the account? Need my wire info now don't you? Hey in fact why your at it why don't you just finance my entire business? And just because your having sex with these people on a regular basis, doesn't mean you have to interject your opinion on their behalf on a website that is designed to warn other consumers about companies that abuse and misuse them!!! So thanks for stating the most obvious logical thing that anyone that read the report could have come up with, but it really doesn't fix the problem on my end jack-in-the-box. The company already allocated the funds received from the account. When business picks up not only will we close the account, we will pursue possible legal recourse if we have a precedent. Hope you sleep better now Joe...

Why don't you just close the account.

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

Hey Mike. Why don't you just close the account. Quit doing business with them if you are treated that bad.

To be honest I have a First Equity card for my business and I don't have picture perfect credit but I got an account anyhow. I make my payments and if I have questions (which is rare) the people I talk to seem to know what they are talking about. I got my interest rate lowered after I opened my account and made a payment.

So quit complaining and close the account. It ain't worth the headache.
