GE MoneyBank Excessive Deferred Interest, Confusing Statements, RIP OFF El Paso Texas

My husband applied for a credit card to spread out payments for furniture we purchased. It was an 18 month deferred interest plan. Not knowing it was to expire I continued paying the requested amount on the bill overlooking the tiny little box with the plan expiration date. Only to my balance double the next month. Upon expiration of the promotion, GE automatically charged a massive interest charge on the entire purchase amount. It was our understanding that interest would be charged on the balance. The difficult-to-read statement and confusing details of the plan is an overall scheme punish the consumer and take advantage of us. When I called GE to discuss this oversight, I was sent to an operator in INDIA!!!! Of course there is nothing that gentleman can do to help....he barely speaks english and is thousands of miles away. This is not the first time I have had trouble with this company. I currently have GAP card that I will pay off and lo an behold the next month...another fee! GE is abusing it's power and shows no mercy for lost or misdirected mail or their computer error. I will be contacting my congressman going through whatever process is necessary to make sure that consumers do not continue to be abused by this company.
