General Motors Factory recall reduces gas milage 25% on trucks & SUVs Detroit, Michigan
*Author of original report: Gasoline milage reduced.
*Consumer Suggestion: What A Line Of Crap
*Consumer Comment: E85 is not economical
A General Motors computer program update recall on my 2007 Yukon (to supposidly make it run better on E85 fuel) reduced my gas milage about 25%. This will cost me around $1,200 every year I own the vehicle!
My GMC dealer tells me this is typical for reprograming all General Motors full size SUVs and light trucks. The dealer and GMC Customer Assistance refuse to restore the origional computer programing or do anything to correct the damage they did.
Do not let General Motors perform this recall on your vehicle! If they have, file a complaint with the BBB (listed in the back of your warranty book) or take other legal action against them ASAP!

#3 Consumer Suggestion
What A Line Of Crap

Where are all the E85 stations? I live around San Antonio, a metro area of one millon people and I know of ONE place that sells E85. All the corn that goes to make E85 has driven the price of milk from $3 to around $5 per gallon cause the farmers have to pay soo much more to feed their cows and the price of beef has almost doubled cause the farmers have to pay more to get the corn to feed their cattle cause the corn is being used to make E85. So I ask you again, where are all the E85 stations that are using all the corn?
One other note, I was listening to the radio the other day and a lady was calling in to complain about how badly her vehicle ran on E85. How it got such bad gas mileage. The guy on the radio said you had to "break" your vehicle off of straight gas and slowly blend it with E85. He suggested you first put a quarter of a tank of E85 with three quarters of a tank of regular, then a half a tank of E85 and then three quarters of a tank of E85 and then you could finally run straight E85. I don't know if that's true, but that's what he recommended. Said it gave your engine time to adjust to the new fuel. Drove to Houston not too long ago and they were selling E10. In otherwords all the gas in the city has 10% ethanol. When I asked the lady at the station about it, she hanhs me a pamplet from shell telling me how much cleaner it is for my vehicle and the air. Didn't notice any difference in the way my truck ran.

I would never burn E85 and help run up food prices for everyone.

it is merely a way to reduce foreign oil dependence.
Mileage suffers greatly-a 3 to 1 difference from fossil fuel.
The computer settings could probably be due to a government implimented mandate.
Or, it could have just been to prevent trouble to the vehicle itself due to incorrect settings from day one the way it was.
