Just as previous outraged consumers have commented, Global Vantage contacted me early this morning (8am CST) in which I hung up on them for lack of answering MY questions. About 30 mins ago, I received a phone call (on my mom's number) and it is the same guy! How did they get my number? Or my mom's number for this matter? My phone number is not listed, yet I can only assume that they are calling previous addresses where I have lived....How are they obtaining this PRIVATE information? Very disturbing!

I finally spoke to a "supervisor" in which he explained that they are collecting a debt on behalf of Discover. The balance amount disclosed was about $1500 more than the balance that I'd had when I was making payments before I was laid off at Enron. Discover was very rude and impersonal about this devastating situation that has sturred impurities in our nation's energy companies, which now a "movie" is based on the entire saga about my close co-workers.

Well, the "supervisor" said that he would settle the amount for about 1/2 of what they had, but I would have to make a HUGE monthly payment. "Not on your life", I stated. I NEVER paid Discover more than $100/mth, let alone would I ever pay some collecting company $392/mth! I even got down to negotiating a $50/mth payment plan and asked for this information to be faxed over in writing, and payments would soon follow after they had my signature. He became outraged and totally re-nigged of the deal. So when I started screaming about how deceiving he was and the amount of time that I have wasted talking to him, this guy had the nerve to remind me that "this conversation was being recorded." I replied, "Good, so that after I hang up the phone in your f*%&king face, you can use this tape for training purposes and take your tired, whack @ss collecting scheme back to the drawing board."

I also threated to report this to the Better Business Bureau and said that if they have been 'dibbling and dabbling" in my credit report, I was going to sue. He backed off momentarily and when he tried to fire at me again....I hung up!

WHO let these DEVILS loose to run free and harrass, terrify, and hunt down hard, working AMERICANS?!?!

I think that there should be legal action taken against the Corporate company that operates in California. Although the law may protect them because they are a collection business, it can also put them away for disclosing this information to people like this, knowing the harsh and scare-tactic practices they use.

They are just as guilty!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

You'd be surprised on what info they can find...

AUTHOR: C - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, June 11, 2005

When I WAS a collections manager for an agency, they had quite a few 3rd party firms that have access on just about anyone in the US since they were 2 years old. Such info to include private cell phone records, access to unlisted numbers, financial records, utility records, info about your parents' neighbors' and friends' info too. The whole 9 yards. It's downright scary of what they can find.

You live in one of the most consumer protective states in Texas where they cannot garnish your wages or attach a lean on your home.

Your best bet is to act like your going to pay the bill and you need the address of where to send the money order to. They will use every verbal trick in the book to try to get you to borrow someones checkbook or credit card, tell them this is the ONLY way they can get paid. Instead of the payment send them a CERTIFIED LETTER to cease all contact. This is the only proof that you have if they continue to harass you and you can sue them.

I'm glad to be out of that business. Just remember the mentality of collectors, "this is just another delinquent, criminal, thieving deadbeat that is harassing us by refusing to pay" I don't condone the above comment. I want to let you know what your dealing with. Hope this helps.
