Back in January, we bought the Haier HLC26B 26-Inch Widescreen LCD HDTV/DVD Combination. In the beginning, it worked great, but in less than 5 months, the DVD player wouldn't load. In the beginning of May, I contacted the Haier America customer service department and explained the problem and in that initial call, I thought the problem would be fixed. It is now over a month after that first call and I don't know where else to turn.
I have made phone call after phone call after phone call and have followed those up with more phone calls and have gotten nothing but the runaround. I know the ticket number by heart and have 4 pages of notes regarding all of the conversations I have had and what I was told by the reps. I would rather eat glass than have to make one more phone call to Haier. Yes, the process is that painful! They told me that they would replace the TV once I send ours back. But I've been waiting for the FedEx Shipping labels that they were supposed to get to me and guess what? I have received nothing! Every day I have to tell my child that he can't watch his favorite movies anymore because the TV we just bought BROKE for no reason!

I have known others who have purchased either TV/DVD or TV/VCR combos in the past, only to find that the TV would outlive the DVD player or VCR that is built in. Same story goes for VCR/DVD combos...I once bought a Philips Magnavox VCR/DVD combo unit at Wal-Mart, and a month or so later, the VCR starts eating up tapes. I had to exchange it for another one, which is working OK so far. However, you can't buy stand-alone VCR's anymore. A suggestion to the Haier TV owner...buy a separate DVD player and plug it into the TV's HDMI port, instead of relying on the built-in unit. Most built-in units are cheaply made anyway, especially with a discount-store brand like Haier.
