I have been a customer of Robib's at the Hair Cuttery for close to two years. Robin is wonderful but every time I am in there she has been doing a hundred other things. I never minded though because she was such a sweet person and I loved the way she did my hair. I have referred over five people to her! Today I called and asked whomever answered the phone if Robin could trim my hair at 6:15. She hesitated and then said yes.

At around 4:00, I called back and asked whomever answered the phone if I could also get highlights. She asked me to hold on so that she could ask Robin. I asked what time Robin got off and she told me 9:00. I asked why she couldn't have my hair done in almost 3 hours!

The lady got back on the phone and said that tonight was not a good night because there was only two people working and if she did highlights on me then it would only leave one person to do hair.It is only a light highlight and trim! I said, "that is not my problem that you are understaffed or did not have enough people on the schedule!

What I don't understand is if she is a hair dresser scheduled to work then why can't she do my hair even if it takes up her time. What is she there for? I have told my family and friends about this and they will not be going to the Hair Cuttery in Avenues Mall again.

I had my friend call and ask if she could have highlights tonight and they told her that they weren't taking appointments, but that she could walk in. I would think that as a business , their clients that have been there for a while would have some kind of priority over people who just walk in. I do understand that it is a walk in hair business but the way I was treated today was not right!

I understand you completely

AUTHOR: Paula - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, June 24, 2007

As a former/manager of this company I completely understand your frustration. It is very hard to find employees to cover the walk ins but surely if you were to walk in and ask for highlights at 4pm then they would have to take you no matter what. If you ask for particular stylist you may have to wait but if they don't take appointments then they have to go in order of first come basis. If your stylist takes appointments and if there was the allotted time on her book then she should have taken you regardless.

I got fed up with the whole issue myself. I hate walk in because you never really know for sure if you are going to be busy. NO job security there. You were a paying client and should have been treated just the same as a walk in. Problem with these type of salons is that they are cheap and pay lousy commission therefor you have to work in volume to make a good paycheck.

I take the time with my clients now. I don't have to whole rush them out the door thing so that way I can make more money additude. Well as a manager you feel the need to make sure you keep up with your budget and if you are short staffed there is even more pressure. My advice would be to find a private salon with a rebutable hair dresser. You may pay a little more or a little less depending on your area.

I was once treated the same way at an oil change business. I took my car their for a brake job they offer and had my car for over 2 hours and when I got back they hadn't even touched it and then he tells me that he won't be able to get to it today. He had told me the day before on the phone that he would be able to do it.

Well then he proceeds to say he can't leave one man alone with the oil changes and do my brakes because that is where the money is. Well his money was in my brake job that would have taken him less than an hour to do also. I WAS getting oil changes there and that made them LOSE my business just because of that! SO they lost my oil change and my brakes.

That highlight job you wanted my have only taken and hour to an hour in a half. Most likely she would have done only 2-3 haircuts in that time with the same outcome in price. It was most likely the tip that swayed the difference in the pocket and again no guarantees. Good luck with looking for a new stylist.

It Figures

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 16, 2006

"I have been a customer for two years" Robin is wonderful", "she is such a sweet person","I love the way she did my hair","I have referred five people to her". Call that day and ask if she can cut your hair at 6:15. She says yes. Call back at 4:00, that afternoon and want highlights, a dye job. She says no. To top it off, you never speak with Robin, some receptionist. So what do you do. You get on this sight, badmouth Robin and the company she works for. I don't see where they were rude. Unless the fact that they wouldn't fit YOU into their busy schedule, on such short notice, can be interpeted as rude. You comment"that is not my problem that you are understaffed or do not have enough people on the schedule" can however be interpeted as rude. A comment from a spoiled little brat that didn't get her way. Kind of like this post. Then you get your "friend" to call and they tell her the same thing. What's the old saying? A lack of preparation on your part doesn't constitue and emergency on my part. Grow Up.

Book Appointment ahead of time!

AUTHOR: Kathy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, January 15, 2006

I am a stylist, not for the company mentioned, but I always ask my customers if they'd like to schedule ahead of time. This ensures they are on the books. Also, when people call the day they want the service, but can't give and exact time they will be arriving, I always warn them about possibly not being able to get in.

I was always told never turn down a customer, but you have to draw the line somewhere. Yes, the salon should have anticipated busier evenings (people getting off work need haircuts) but what if it was a sick stylist or maybe their child was ill? We are not just hair factories, there may have been other factors involved.

For people who go to walk in only salons, find out if they can put you on the waiting list early in the day, so when you do come in, and the reception area is packed, you'd be the next one on the list. SMILE!! it gives your face something to do!!

Hair Cuttery

AUTHOR: Carla - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 22, 2005

Hair Cuttery is a walk in based business.Alot of their salons do not make any appointments at all.It is company policy to have a certain amount of stylists reserved for walk-ins on each shift.A stylist does not have to even make appointments for services, this is completely optional.
When you made an appointment for a cut only, she schedules her day and other appointments and her walk in status around that.
It is not her fault you changed your mind a few hours from your scheduled time, and she could not take you.

Todays lesson- Know what you want to have done when you schedule your appointment and be grateful that you have a stylist that is so good, she is booked up.

#1 UPDATE Employee

Have knowledge of the subject and respect of otheres time

AUTHOR: Annoymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 07, 2003

I am employed by Hair Cuttery a Ratner Company which have world wide salons ie Bubbles Inc. Since I am employed with this world known company I personally know that appt times are cut off do to our heavy walk-in volume.

If you must make an appt at the last minute when you needed that hair cut last week and that highlight last month but you would show me disrespect and expect me to take time away from my family to do your service before these patient customers who have been waiting for hours and refuse them service for you. Would you do the same in your profession?????

I would like to know just how much you are going to pay me to turn away future exsessive business and lose time with my children to be at your beck and call.

Why don't you see if Publix will stay open until 12:00 a.m. because you just can't come in any earlier than 10:45 to start your grocery shopping for the month. I would like to see their response.

We are employees and work on commission and tips and I do take care of my customers but they take care of me and know my schedule and respect the companies policies that appts aren't taking during heavy volume walk in hours. ie evenings and weekends!!!!!!

Perhaps you should step into to your stylist shoes and pay check for one moment. I've been the consumer and I realize now just to what extremes we stylist go to just to please you last minute I should be the priority tippers that you are. I must admitt at the end of the week you have not benifited me and my business.

If a customer is happy that person will tell 10 people about the pleasant experience but an unhappy customer will tell 20 people about their unpleasant experience. We all have our good and bad days this is not a perfect world. If At the end of the week and you were my only unhappy customer and I pleased 10 walk ins then I have benifitted!!!!!!!

For every customer we lose we gain 2, so next time you think your stylest should go above and beyond her call of duty just to please you ask your self if it were you would you be doing the same.

Do you truly let your stylist know that you appreiciate what he or she does for your over all life style and notice how much easier your life is because you are given confidence from that one person in your life that you so comonally see as just another occupation who is just doing her duty.

To be a stylist or any profession that you are hands on with the consumer is usely chosen and believe me unless you own the salon we are not making what we are worth!!!!!!!!
