My notebook was purchased MAY/2007 and unbeknownst to me already defective from the manufacturer . 4 days ago today the notebook does not turn on at all I have tried everything. I went to HP's website apparently there is a recall for a whole bunch of different notebook models made by them. Not only was I not notified that the product that HP sold to me was defective but they want to charge me $259.00 to fix their mistake!

So after speaking to 3 different people somewhere in India one of which was a so called supervisor who sounded like a robot, I got nothing resolved I am stuck with a notebook that does not turn on wether I like it or not. WARNING: DO NOT BUY AN HP NOTEBOOK OR DESKTOP!!!!!!  I paid $1,700.00 for this notebook and quite frankly I now realize it is an overpriced piece of junk. SWITCHING TO MACS!!!! HP's customer service is HORRIBLE save your self an aneurysm and a really bad investment!

Same Situation`

AUTHOR: Susanw004 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, March 22, 2010

I too find myself in the same situation.  I purchased my laptop (model HP PAvilion dv9740US) in January 2008.  By November of the same year, my laptop basically cooked itself to death.  HP repaired it at no cost as it was still under warranty.  Several months after they "repaired" it, it started to get very hot, so much so, than I could not rest my hands on the keyboard.  I had to get a fan and face it directly onto my computer..I also had a cooling pad under it.

Needless to say, it has died on me again, just last week.  I have been in contact with HP, 3 times with their tech department in India...that's a joke...and a fourth time today, with a "case manager" in their corporate office.  Noone is willing to help me with this.  HP is fully aware they sold faulty laptop computers that contained certain video drivers made by Nvidia.  They have only recalled a portion of these laptops.  I don't understand why they don't recall all of them.

Just this month, China has announced they are going to pursue legal action against HP, and HP has since then apologized for the faulty computers and has offered them an extended warranty.  But what about everyone else???  This infuriates me and I will not sit back and let them screw me over.  I will be calling them everyday until they do what they need to do, which is repair my computer as they should have the first time.
