I rented 3 videos from hollywood video in Dec. 2003. These were 5 day rental movies. I returned them in three days, with whitnesses. A month later I received a notice that these movies were not returned. I immediatley call the store and ask for the manager. He avoided me for 5 days. Never returned my calls. When I finally spoke with him. He assured me he would take care of it.

A couple of weeks later I get a bill from the main office. I called them immediatley. The same thing for weeks nobody would let me speak with a manager. I left several messages and wrote a letter. Still nobody would return my calls. If this company will ripp-off there good paying customers then they will do it to anybody. I'm 44yrs old Never paid a late bill in my life. How can this company make false accusations against their customers.

Its no different than being called a lair and thief. Please tell me how can we stop something like this from happening to somelse?

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Hmmmmm please dont consider employees witnesses

Okay, I used to work for h/w video and I know that you're in a tough situation. First off, when you return movies and you say that you have witnesses, please dont consider employees witnesses. I remember so many customers saying, "remember me, I game you those movies friday night"

It doesn't work that way. I go through so many people that you seriously are, a faceless person in the crowd. Unless you have a green and pink mohawk with ears the size of Dumbo, there is a fat chance I will remember you.

Second, dont deal with corporate, they dont know you and they really dont care, especially when it's through the phone. And you can't deal with the people from h/w over the phone either. There is no such thing as a message system for the manager of the store. When an employee says he or she will leave their manager a message, it is usually in a scratch piece of paper.

You have to go down to the store personally around roughly 11-5 on weekdays and 12pm-7pm on friday and saturdays. If your mananger was like my old boss, he or she would take care of your problem one way or another. The assisant can't do anything and none of the shift leaders or gsr can either.

I know I wrote a lot but I hope this has been some use. Oh by the way, they have a 1800 number that you can dial in and complain which reach the district mananger and eventually the store one. Leave 2 or 3 and it will get their attention real fast.

I hope I was a little help....

avoid this rip off

Keith:

I am so sorry that this happened to you i had this happen to me along time ago and this is how i deal with them now. When you return your videos take them in and have a staff check them in at that moment and give you a reciept that they were returned. If they ask why tell them you have had hollywood video say you didn't return videos before and though they may not be that company you will not allow it to happen to you again and that is why you do this procedure when returning videos. It may seem time consuming and a bit harsh but if you got to hollywood you do the same let the companies that we the good people are not all going to lay down and be taken to pay for the things that are not returned by dishonest people.
