Hotwire provides misleading and deceptive information at its website regarding hotel rating. it sold me a low-star hotel for high star price based on "THEIR OWN REVIEW DATA".  One of Econo Lodge & Suites was sold me as two and half star hotel. And its price was higher than it was listed at expedia.com (which shows as 2 star hotel for the same one!).

Before I bid, I check hot-wire's hotel rating guidance for 2 1/2 and 2 stars. Econo Lodge was clearly indicated as 2 stars in its own web page, as it was shown in other websites such as priceline.com and expedia.com.

After I knew I bought Econo Lodge, I called hot-wire customer service. I was told that this particular ECONO Lodge can be rated as 2 1/2 based on ITS OWN REVIEW DATA, even though the logo of ECONO Lodge was clearly put in 2 star hotel category in its rating guidance. The agent also argued that they can not include   ECONO Lodge in  2 1/2 star category because " there are too many " and "on average it is a 2 star". But if you look at their rating guidance (see the pic) , you will see ramada is one of the hotel put into both 2 1/2 and 2 star category. The agent said nothing that she can do.

Such  a deceptive and misleading practice should be warned, given consumers can not access to or understand what HOTWIRE REVIEW DATA is. And  they can claim whatever the hotel rating is without following the practices of other websites.
