Hotwire.com ripoff San Francisco California

I recently booked a Hotwire hotel room for 5 nights in Toledo OH for 2 visitors. When informed of the name and location of the hotel I was appalled. The Hotwire information on site was at best misleading and at worst, just plain deceptive.

1. HOTEL LOCATION: The site specified Central Toledo-Westgate. The Hotel is located in downtown Toledo. Westgate is outside of the Toledo city limits and miles from the booked hotel. I feel the listing was misleading, Reference to Westgate should not have been made.
2. HOTEL QUALITY: Hotwire indicated that the star rating given was equivalent to well known chains (listed). The hotel was to be one of the chain hotels listed or 'a reputable, trusted independent' establishment. In fact, the hotel is Hotel Seagate (formerly a Ramada) that has been in bankruptcy for several years and is in need of major renovations. Trip Advisor reviewers and others do not recommend this hotel. Because I am a 'local', I am aware of reports of filthy rooms, facilities in need of repair, lack of restaurant, a hotel pool 'under renovation', for more than a year and the list could go on.

A call to customer service did not result in any satisfaction. They referred to the small yellow mapped area that showed possible locations. The map did not show major highways , streets of city limits. They indicated the hotel had been reviewed in May and warranted the star rating given. I doubt whether this was an onsite visit.
An expensive lesson (more than$200.00) learned. Our guests will not stay at the Seagate. We have booked another hotel in the Westgate area. Will we ever consider Hotwire again? NEVER!
