I was approved for the auto loan in august of 1999. three weeks later I received the original title to the car. I sent it back and made a phone call asking why did they send me the original. The woman on the other end stated that I should have the original and they keep the copy. HMMMM that's not correct.
In 2002 I lost my job. I called Household and told them my "situation". Their only suggestion was to turn in the vehicle. So I told them to come and get the car. They never have! Since then I have moved. I informed Household with my new address and phone number. Still no one came to get the car.
Just this past November the vehicle was struck by an oncoming car and totalled. Well two weeks after that I received a call from a woman in Texas stating that she was an investagor for Household and that they were coming to take the car. I proceeded to tell her of this whole fisasco. She really didn't care. Now as of yesterday another "investagor" called me stating that I needed to call him and that this whole situation could be taken care of over the phone. I called back and told him everything that had taken place. Now I have found out that I'm not the only one with this problem. I just don't know what I can do to stop the harrassment.

In October 2002, I contacted Household Auto to request an extension due to the fact I had fallen on hard times. Like many others, I was transfered from extension to extension and hung up on.
Finally, I spoke with a women in loss mitigation who assured me everything would be fine and they would mail the extension forms to me. I waited a couple weeks and no extension forms. I called back and they said there must have been a mistake and they would get the forms right out to me.
This happened a couple more times. In December, STILL awaiting the forms, I called Household and was transferred to a Collection Manager. He stated that unless I pay my entire past due balance of $1300 immediately by check by phone, they were going to take my car.
After explaining my situation to him, he agreed to let me make $100 weekly payments to get the loan caught up. So, I made the first payment with a check by phone. That was December 23, 2002. On January 2, 2003 I awoke to a dragging sound in my driveway. I looked out the window and saw my car being literally dragged sideways down my driveway by a tow truck. Before I could get dressed, the car was gone. Not thinking it was being reposessed, I called AAA and told them that my car was being towed. They dispatched all tow trucks in the area and 5 minuted later the guy who towed my car showed up in front of my house with my car. I asked him what he was doing and he showed me his PRIVATE DETECTIVE identification and POLICE REPORT authorizing the repo. He didn't care that I had made good on a payment agreement. He didn't care that I needed the car to get to work. The POLICE REPORT was all he needed to just take the car. At least he let me get my belongings out of the car, because I never saw the car again. Household Auto will LIE to get into your bank account. They never intended to make a deal with me or anyone else. I immediately closed my account before they got any ideas. A few months later, I received a letter stating that they had sold the car, and I owe a deficiency balance of $4500.00!!! And now, May 10, 2004, after hundreds of harrassing phone calls by Household, I have yet to give them a dime. I refuse to pay these crooks. They had NO RIGHT TO TAKE MY CAR. WE HAD AN AGREEMENT. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH HOUSEHOLD AUTO FINANCE CORPORATION. YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!!!!!!!
