I had my income tax filed in an HR Block Premium office in Lakewood Colorado in 2013. Two months ago I was contacted on 6/27/2015 by the IRS stating I owed about $4,748.00 plus $187.00 in interest. At the time of filing I purchased the Peace of Mind product. I called HR Block immediately about this and they had me come in to their office. When I went in the person helping me seemed more concerned with covering up the mistakes made than correcting them. He tried convincing me that I did not have a Peace of Mind Claim. I became very irate and told him I wanted to file a claim and he finally gave in and went to talk to his manager and when he came back a claim was filed.
As it turned out when my taxes were filed the H&R tax person filing my taxes forgot to add a $7110.00 mortgage tax credit and did not advise me on third party sick pay I had received. So, a Peace of Mind Claim (645804) was filed on 7/13/2015. It has been going on eight weeks since the filing. I have called H&R Block at 1-800HRBLOCK on numerous occasions asking for the status of the claim and keep being told I would receive an answer within a few days. This was weeks ago. According to the Peace of Mind contract it states processing takes 4-6 weeks. The customer service people at this number have hung up the phone on me on several occasions and seemed to be annoyed because I am asking questions concerning the processing of the complaint.
In the Peace of Mind contract it states that if my claim is denied that I would receive a letter as to the reason why. To date I have neither received a letter stating why my claim has been denied or been reimbursed for the $4935.00 for the Peace of Mind Claim. I believe I deserve an answer from them.

***UPDATE*** After waiting 8 weeks for a response from H&R Block concerning this claim I finally received a phone call on 9/10/15. The H&R Block representative told me she was calling from H&R Block Executive Office in Kansas City in reference to my Peace of Mind claim. The representative told me during this call that my Peace of Mind claim had been approved for $1358.00. Originally I had filed a claim for $4935.00. I asked why I was only being reimbursed $1358.00 when the IRS had stated I owed $4935.00. The representative stated that an amended tax return correcting the errors made had been filed by H&R Block on 7/13/15 for $1358.00. At the time the amended tax return was pending approval by the IRS. I reluctantly, accepted the $1358.00 refund on the condition that the amended tax return was approved by the IRS for $1358.00
On 10/9/15 I received the response via a letter from the IRS in regards to the amended tax return for $1358.00. As it turned out the IRS was now stating in this letter that I now owed $3843.00 which included $175.00 in interest. They stated that an error in calculations had been made by H&R Block when they filed the amended tax return and as a result of this error I owed $3843.00 instead of $1358.00. So, I immediately called the Executive Office in Kansas City at the number provided me. I told the representative I was calling in regards to an amended tax return that had been done in regard to a Peace of Mind Claim. I told the representative that I was calling back because there were errors made on the amended tax return which had been done on 7/13/15.
So, I explained to the representative what had been agreed upon between me and H&R Block concerning the pending amended tax return. I told the representative that we agreed that H&R Block would pay me $1358.00 for the Peace of Mind Claim pending the approval of the amended tax return. I told the representative the IRS had responded by letter on 10/9/15. In this letter the IRS rejected the amended return for $1358.00 and now stated I owed $3843.00. I told the representative H&R Block agreed to pay me any difference of penalty on the event of errors made on the amended tax return. Because I had already been paid $1358.00 the difference was $3843.00 minus $1358.00. So I am owed $2485.00 from H&R Block as previously agreed upon. The representative asked me to send her the letter sent to me from the IRS on 10/9/15 concerning the amended tax return and she would call me back. I sent her the letter via email. I am waiting for her call.

As it turned out when my taxes were filed the HR tax advisor filing my taxes forgot to add a $7110.00 mortgage tax credit and did not advise me on third party sick pay even though I provided the settlement information. So, a peace of mind claim was filed on 7/13/2015.
After waiting 8 weeks for a response from H&R Block concerning this claim I finally received a phone call from Cameron Mullen on 9/10/15. Cameron told me she was calling from H&R Block Executive Office in Kansas City in reference to my Peace of Mind claim. She told me during this call that my Peace of Mind claim had been approved for $1358.00. Originally I had filed a claim for $4935.00. I asked why was I only being reimbursed $1358.00 when the IRS had stated I owed $4935.00? She stated that an amended tax return correcting the errors made had been filed by H&R Block on 7/13/15 for $1358.00 which at the time was pending approval by the IRS. I reluctantly, accepted the $1358.00 refund on the condition that the amended tax return was approved by the IRS for $1358.00 and she agreed. She told me to call her if the IRS responded and if there was a problem with the amended tax return.
So, I immediately called Cameron Mullen at (888-436-3965) the Executive Office in Kansas City at the number she provided me but, a lady by the name of Mrs. Majors answered the call. She asked the reason for my call and I explained to her Cameron was handling a Peace of Mind claim for me that had been filed on 7/13/15. Mrs. Majors informed me that Cameron was no longer in that office and that she was now handling all her business matters.
So, I explained to her what had been agreed upon between me and Cameron concerning the amended tax return. I told her that Cameron and I had agreed that H&R Block would pay me $1358.00 for the Peace of Mind Claim pending the approval of the amended tax return for $1358.00 from the IRS. I told her the IRS had responded by letter on 10/9/15. In this letter the IRS rejected the amended return for $1358.00 and now stated I owed $3843.00. So for this reason H&R Block owed me the difference. Because I had already been paid $1358.00 the difference was $3843.00 minus $1358.00. So I am owed $2485.00 from H&R Block as previously agreed upon. She asked me to send her the letter sent to me from the IRS on 10/9/15 concerning the amended tax return and she would call me back. I sent her the letter via email. I am waiting for her call.
