We had been through some pretty hard times and have used the credit card for things we needed. We had not gone over our limit. Then Last month we received a bill. And of course the anual service charge was charged pushing it overlimit. This was not a problem because we where at fault for having had the card with such a high balance (still not over limit). So they sent our bill and it was for $85.89 due 7/10/06 this amount was posted to our account on 7-5-06, five days before the bill was due.

This SHOULD have brought our account back to terms. But somehow betwen the time the bill was send and the bills due date they added more charges to our account (ones that where not ours). So this month we get a bill for $42.26 (this is our min payment + another overlimit fee because of the mysterious changing bill amount). This is due on 8/10/06. I log onto our account today 7-30-06 to pay the bill online and BAM..... the bill has magically changed its self to $72? I only have it in my budget to pay the $42.26 that we have sat aside for this. So this is all we can pay. So I call customer service to ask them to explain why this keeps happening and they could not provide an answer except told me to read the contract.

When I told her that the contract does not say that they had the right to adjust a bill after it had already been sent, she hung up on me. I feel this is very rude and not at all professional. So next month we will get a bill for prob another overlimit fee and so on and so on and so on. So they are able in my opinion to(steal)(scam) (rob) whatever you want to call it and get away with it. I just want everyone who reads this to know that they really need to watch out for these types.

After not receiving a response to my compaint that I filled, I checked my account online and to my suprise all overlimit fees that where charged after the bill for the total amount due was issued, where credited to my account. I'm not sure if this is a fluke or if this is real but for the time being it looks like HSBC is trying to make amends. I will keep you posted.
