Found a $12.95 charge to ILD Telecommunications on my first Verizon FiOS bill. Called Verizon and was told that they can't do anything, I must call ILD. I call ILD at 9:00:07 AM and am told I have an estimated 14 minute wait. This yells SCAM because they don't open their phone lines until 9:00:00,

Whil on hold, I go to their website and fill out a communication form, but, just before I click on Submit, I click on the Privacy Notice. Very close to the top of the Privacy notice, they says very clearly that ANYTHING you provide them will be used in ANY way they want.

I decide NOT to click on Submit, because they would then have my name and e-mail address. Instead I googled them and found that they are a nationwide scam taking advantage of a law that is supposed to foster creativity and free-market competition. The reports were uniformly, "I called and they said Tough" or " I called and they said they would remove the charge but they did not and they keep charging me".

i called Verizon back and told them what I had found and they sent me to their fraud department, who "recoursed" the $12.95 fee. The person I dealt with was totally great, said that they hated these sleazoids, and even looked back and found that a different company had charged me the month before. They also "recoursed" this charge.

HERE IS THE IMPORTANT PART:
They then sent me back to Verizon customer service and told me to ask them for a "3rd Party Block" to be placed on my account. Two pwople later, the block was applied. They did not promise it would be 100% perfect, but would probably do the job.

ILD Teleservices is a leading payment processor for transactions between merchants and consumers. Through contractual relationships with telephone companies like AT&T and Verizon, we give merchants the opportunity to let consumers charge products and services such as long distance, internet access, and collect calling directly to your phone bill.

As a result, instead of purchasing these items with a credit card or opening an account with the merchant, you can have a transaction billed directly to your phone. When you do, the merchant sends your transaction information to ILD, and ILD adds the charge to your phone bill. It's a service very similar to what credit card companies provide.
