I sent the link to InstrumentAlley.com to my girlfriend who was purchasing a mandolin for my xmas present. She placed the order and received a confirmation email, and they told her it would go out the day she ordered, 12/20/07, on Fedex 2day air. Now on December 27th, we have yet to receive my mandolin, any returns from email or phone calls. They charged the card immediately, and NEVER shipped at all. Their site says they shipped yet they will not provide tracking information and Fedex has no record of it as of yet!
I only chose to use them for this purchase because of some extra goodies that came with the order for free. I have never experienced such unprofessional and cowardly behavior from any business, online or not. I will be calling their local authorities today and reporting to them.

Due to mistakes on the part of the vendor this report was written. All the items that were ordered have now been received in good condition. Lack of communication as to the where abouts of our parcel . Simple communication would have solved this in the first place. I may have been hasty in writing this, however, a missing package with the value of an instrument had us worrying!

As it now stands, the 14th of January, I have finally received all the goods due here on Dec. 22. It seems as though the company had sent the mandolin via the incorrect carrier and shipping method. Since no communication was made and tracking number was never made available until the 26th of Dec., we had no idea what was happening. The vendor views this as a mistake and blames us for ordering so close to xmas. Communication is key in business.

Well, I received the mandolin yesterday afternoon, 12/27. However, it had been shipped from another companies warehouse in Indiana via UPS Ground, not the 2 day air Fedex as we were charged for. On top of that, the case was missing and the promised setup booklet as well. Upon calling the warehouse, as their number was on the UPS label, a nice girl told me they did not even ship Fedex from there, and also told me that a case had never been ordered. I thanked her for her time and again went back to leaving emails and phone messages asking for resolution to the extraneous shipping charges and the missing items. Will update again.
It seems to me that this company could avoid pretty much every negative complaint about them if they would just return emails and phone calls to let the customers know what the status of their package is. As it is now, they just take your order and charge your card and leave you hanging by a thread as to the whereabouts and status of your order!
It is easy to see why so many horrific complaints come from this vendor. Had they told my girlfriend that it was going to take longer and come from a different place, we may have been more understanding. Likely they would have lost the sale to another company who could get it shipped in time for xmas. It looked a lot like fraud with no communication made on their part.
I would definitely never order anything from this company again and recommend that you never do!!!
