If I can save someone the time and money by writing this report then I have done more for my country than JD Byrider has done for me in the past year as a customer. This company is INDEED a rip off, I'm not sure why and how they are in business. I was in a bad financial situation and I was in need of a car. I saw that JD takes down payments as low as $500. I should have known this was a red flag.
After they got me in the door is when I found out that they will take 500, but will defer the remaining 1500 of the down payment in bi weekly payments. I was sold a 2001 Dodge stratus for 10,500!!! WOW!! The car has since been appraised and is only worth 1200, so I'm left owing 8400 on this car. I have had to seen the car to the shop for repairs 5 times and I have only had the car 10 months, the engine had to be replaced, the alternator, no air, no heat, no thermostat, radiator leaking and should I go on.
I had to pay for towing as well as a rental bc they do not provide loaner cars, which is a real inconvenience. However, they still wanted their biweekly payment. I hate this place with a passion and I don't know how they are by law able to run a business, my car is currently their now in the shop bc it keeps cutting off on my while driving, after it was just in the shop for 3wks getting the engine replaced, and this was only 2wks ago.
This place will set you up to fail, they know their cars are no good and that you will either stop wasting your money paying your car payment or the car will break down and you wont have the money to fix it, so they know they will reposes their cars which in turns continues to keep you in a bad credit crunch. Which at this point I don't care about a repossession, i will be giving them back their car. Please tell your family and friends. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM JDBRYIDER because you will suffer and reap the consequences.

Karl gets my vote.

This is just another predatory loan and it's a shame people have to take them, but some do.I've seen the same thing around where I live, they have people paying 3 or 4 hundred bucks a month on a 10 year old car because they can. When people get in trouble with there credit there life goes in the toilet and they end up paying more for everything which does nothing to help them out but it does wonders at holding them down for years and years.
To all the critics with perfect credit, pray that you never are thrown in this boat because it's an ugly ugly ride.
God Bless all.

A Basic Economics Lesson for JD Byrider Customer - Charlotte

"They sell junk cars and over price them 3x the value. That's why I'm surprised that they are still able to operate by law."
We do not have price controls in a free enterprise economy. Our economic decisions are free from government constraints. A consumer has the right to pay above market value and a seller has the right to request any amount they want for their merchandise and services. Consumers have the advantage of searching for competitive pricing.
"I was in a bad financial situation and I was in need of a car."
Better wording would have been: 'My credit is in the toilet so I elected to purchase from a subprime dealer.'

Obviously you are not a customer of this horrific company you sound like one of the shady dumb employees that work for them. They sell junk cars and over price them 3x the value. That's why I'm surprised that they are still able to operate by law. As I did more research I see that this dumb a** company has had several lawsuits. so until you become a customer you really have nothing to say. I guess they pay you to sit on web site boards to send out these dumb a@@ comments on behalf of the company... "At least I saved 100 bucks" maybe I should have paid it the car probably would have been fixed right the first time. Go kill yourself.

Don't Give It Back

Giving the car back simply deprives you of a car. JD Byrider supposedly will sell the car at auction for probably $500 and you will still owe the remainder of your loan which they will turn over to a collection agency. These people will bug you mercilessly. It would be wiser to check with your friends and find a reliable mechanic who can fix any major problems and at least give you a drivable car.

" I'm not sure why and how they are in business. "
I think your post makes it quite plain.
" I was sold a 2001 Dodge stratus for 10,500!!! WOW!! "
When people like you agree to buy an old used car for 800% of what it's worth, that pretty much ensures that they will stay in business.
" This place will set you up to fail "
Be honest. You set yourself up to fail. You paid an absurd amount for this old car (no doubt at an equally ridiculous interest rate) and you didn't even bother to have this expensive purchase checked out before signing on the dotted line. Frankly, if you're going to roll the dice with your money like that, you'd probably be better off doing it at a craps table in Vegas.
Next time you're wondering what keeps places like this in business, look in the mirror.

"I don't know how they are by law able to run a business"
Nothing in your report indicates they are operating in an unlawful manner. You agreed to the inflated down payment on an overpriced car that you apparently purchased AS-IS without a warranty. Was there an agreement for them to give you free towing or a loaner car? You hate them but you are paying their service department to work on your car? WTF?
"However, they still wanted their biweekly payment."
As per the agreement, correct?
Well at least you saved a hundred bucks by not paying an independent mechanic to check out the car prior to purchase.
