Here is yet another ripoff report about the infamous JD Byrider. I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my experiences and I'm hoping someone will step up and file a class action suit against these guys sooner than later.

At any rate my experience is unfortunate and not at all unique but it is quite sad. Like many, I also had poor credit, a repossession, a divorce in my past, and I was desperate. I was the prime mark for a company like JD Byrider and they smelled the blood in the water from miles away. When I walked in and met Stan G. "Mr. Soulpatch" salesman for the first time he was all smiles and, "We're here for you." After months of searching for a decent car with the little I had saved and pulled together I needed a car and this was my last resort despite what everyone told me. So I did what I had to do and I listened to Mr. Soulpatch's pitch and it sounded, well, not so bad. The pay off would be reasonably fast with my payrate at the time, the car was supposedly in good shape and I'd be able to have a nice one.... so he said.

So then I meet with the boss guy, his name I cannot remember and don't care to. He was rude and made me feel like a stupid woman who didn't know anything about cars and I was walked through my budget. My finances analyzed like I was an irreponsible dolt who put myself in my own situation. (Yeah, uh, thanks, but no I didn't. Sh*t happens). He then tells me I can have a car (Oh, gee, thank you so much kind sir.... you are really too kind). From there I'm directed back to Mr. Soulpatch to tells me we're to do a "needs" assessment. This is where they determine what sort of car I deserve. I was deserving of a 2002 Ford Focus. Awwww gee, guys, that's great. I mean really.

To be honest it wasn't so bad at first. The test drive wasn't so bad. It was shaky but I looked at the engine. Kicked the tires like you're supposed to. (I've seen guys do that a lot.) It all seemed to check out. Hey, some of you out there didn't even GET a test drive so I count myself LUCKY. But yeah, so I get the test drive. The car checks out. I read this report about the car. It's stable, it says, and I'm good. I'll take it. I need the damned thing.

So I'm whisked into a room with Joe... the guy. This is THE GUY. He's got the camera on me in the corner and he's the one who's gonna rough me up, so to speak, if I can't pay for the darned car. He inasmuch says so when he says if I miss one day that he'll have the car repossessed. Yeah, yeah, I sign the forms. I have a job. Things are good.

Things were fine for a while but then fast forward about a year or two and the car starts to literally fall apart. The tensioner on the serpentine belt snaps out of nowhere. There's a few hundred in repairs. Several months later I start to hear a strange noise. Within days, I'm driving home from work and I begin to lose control of the car and have the presensence of mind to stop the thing before I crash. The back right passenger axle has almost sheared off due to a messed up bearing. It's towed to a local garage where they get under the car and there begin all the questions, "What happened to this car? Who worked on it? Who owned it? Why are the shocks only half done on this one side and not the other? This strut needs to be fixed. This axle is gone. The brakes are shot, you haven't had it long enough for all this damage. The frame is messed up." On and on it went.

My two year warranty was in effect still. I contacted the dealership. They won't touch the car since someone else has already started to look at it. They said, "If you'd called before." I e-mailed several times expressing my anger at the issue. Nothing. No response. It cost several thousand in repairs.

After all the repairs are done I go back to have an inspection several months later to find the exhaust system has rotted out. Several more hundred in repairs and lost time for that.

Finally I pay off the car and get Joe "the guy" off my back. I get an e-mail from Stan "Mr. Soulpatch" telling me that I'm now a VIP and I should get a new car. I even get a phone call. Furious I e-mail back telling them to never contact me again, explaining why I'm so angry. That I can't believe they have the gall to want to sell me another car. I tell Mr. Soulpatch that I work in the medical field and I'll be sure to tell the myriad people I see to never go to JD Byrider ever. Since I'm close to Springfield MA I can at least keep them away from there.  What they do to South Attleboro I don't know and don't care.

But Mr. Soulpatch's oh-so-professional response? "I hope you feel better now. We're having a record year so keep doing what you're doing b*tch."

Not My Fault I didn't Pay My Bills?

AUTHOR: Bruce - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 15, 2015

I read the complaint against JD Byrider and can't help but wonder. In the final analysis, WHO is responsible for the type of poor credit that would require a person to be limited to a "second chance', sub-prime lender in the first place?? S**t Happens, True. But it's not their fault you arranged to get into a bind.  As I see the company, I have bought a vehicle from them, they were my only option due to MY OWN STUPIDITY and they helped me greatly. Nobody forces anyone in any way to enter into any contract that they think is beneath their station in life.

The company was also said to "smell blood" when they read how the consumer's credit was lousy (actually 'lousy' credit doesnt exclude you from conventional financing) usually, MUCH worse than lousy, bordering on criminal credit. Did they honor their Warranty? They didn't? Could it be because you called "Joe the Mechanic" to disassemble the care that you didn't own yet for a cut rate? It seems that Byrider did good by you, but you yourself caused the initial cause for buying there and followed up with another "muff" and blamed it on the business that gave you a shot. Shame on YOU!
