Hi Pattie. You need to create an account with Equifax. Sign in and initiate an online dispute. When you dispute the Jefferson account add a note that says: "This is not mine. Please delete." Try that. It might take awhile to come off.

I am trying to resolve this incorrect reporting on Equifax.  To do a rebuttal with them you have to sign up for the services--rip off as usual.  Jefferson Capital has a balance showing on the Equifax side of $139 from Fingerhut.  I paid off my Fingerhut  account years ago and I honestly want to know what the heck is the $139 is for! I called Jefferson Capital got the wonderful recording..ha ha and when I input the information asked for it told me that this company does not handle this account anymore and to call another number--  I really want this to come off my credit report under Equifax but I will not sign up for the service of doing so.  This is awful because I am trying to clear up my credit so I can buy a car..mine is 15 years old and isn't going to last forever.  I want this taken off my credit report.
