Well I see that I've fallen for a scam. After reading all of the previous reports about this company, my story is a familiar one. What got me to check them out on Rip Off report was a letter that I received yesterday from JK Harris requesting yet MORE Information from me.
This has been going on for the past 2 - 3 months, ever since I retained their services. Each time (after giving them more info), I get a phone call saying "O.K., we now have everything we need to move forward with your case". Now they want my credit card information. I have no credit cards and furthermore, they have my SSN, Address, Date of Birth, etc. Can't they access it on their own?
So I'm guessing that nothing has been done as far as getting my IRS problem settled. I gave them a down payment of $250 and am supposed to pay $225 per month for the next 10 months.
I don't suppose that I have any chance of getting my $250 back now do I.
I certainly won't be honoring my payment plan, especially after reading all of the similar post's here.
So now I'm back to square one, $250 poorer and am waiting for the IRS to levy my paycheck any day now.
Is there any recourse here?
Can anybody reccommend an HONEST tax service?

The only way to get your money back is to take JK harris to small claims court. Look at some of my other posts, and follow the guide lines. It works. As for the IRS try and workout a payment plan, if the amount is to much, tell them it would create a "Hardship". Be sure to use those specific words.

The only thing I can tell you, is personally....just call IRS themselves...they will really work with you! No need to hire anybody. The IRS really isnt "looking" to make any ones life difficult. If you are upfront and honest with them, the WILL work with you. There is nothing anyone else can do that you cant do, so dont waste your money.

I am not referring to a 'chain' like H&R Block, but rather an established private tax preparer with a solid 10-year record and good references. No tax salvation-service will be able to do more for you than a reputable tax preparer.
You never described your particular "IRS problem "- and you probably shouldn't.
The IRS will be more understanding if you approach them. They may work out a payment plan for you.
Since J.K. Harris knows you have a problem could they rat you out to the IRS for a "finder's fee"?
Too bad the IRS cannot have a 'friendly discussion' with J.K. Harris insofar as J.K. Harris seems to be delaying the resolution of taxpayer cases. The IRS can be very 'persuasive'...
