I signed up at LA Boxing making month-to-month payments. The man at the front desk assured me if I ever wanted to cancel it would be $50. I only went twice and didn't like the atmosphere. The coaches were fantastic, but the management was absolutely awful. I went in to freeze my account while I went on vacation to Virginia, and the man at the front desk said he froze it. Next thing I know im still getting billed.

I called LA Boxing to figure out what was going on and to get my money back. The man who answered was very rude and condescending. I kept a calm tone and a polite manner and he still talked to me like I was some ignorant 12 year old. I then emailed corporate who was very relaxed and told me I had to sign a form to freeze my account (now that I complain, he tells me. They didnt tell me at the actual place of business).

I was then aggravated with the process, when I returned to California I called to cancel my membership. I was told I had to come in person and cancel. No problem...so I thought.

I went in and received no help at the front desk. waiting around, a coach comes up and ask what I needed. I told him, to which he then retrieved the 'manager'. This man was so unprofessional, and unpolite it was ridiculous. I stayed calm and told him what I needed. He replies 'HUH?!' I then repeated myself to which he says I needed to pay $200 to cancel. Let me go ahead and state at the time I was 20 years old and (21 now and still) unemployed. I couldnt pay the $200 fee to which he states I 'have' to.

They just took out $99.00 which overdrafted my account. They also did not give me a cancellation form. His words were I had to pay $100 to cancel, and another $100 for NEXT MONTH!

They wouldnt 'let' me cancel so I went and closed out my bank account. Now I get a letter in the mail, saying I owe a payment of $234 which doesnt at all make sense since I never went to the gym and paid month-to-month, but on top of that they add a random $1064.70 to it. Once again, im still unemployed and am moving back home to Virginia which im already aware would cancel any payments despite how shady, unethical, and obviously fraudalent they are.

I can not make these payments, and from what im reading im not the only one in this situation. This business is shady and deserves to go under immediately before they attempt to ripoff anyone else again. Im already seeking legal help, but any other legal advice I could obtain would be extremely helpful.
