wow, just read another report here that is almost EXACTLY like mine. I purchased a WRT54GL from Newegg 6/19/08. It included a $10 rebate for purchases of this product between 6/1/2008 and 6/30/2008. I promptly filled out the form, included my Newegg invoice, and cut the UPC off the box, taping it to the rebate form so it was difficult to misplace by the Rebate processing center.

I got a letter saying my purchase was outside the offer date, and no UPC was enclosed. Oh yes it was! I'm sitting here starring at the box with the hole in it where the UPC was. They also asked me to resend the original UPC. I cannot send that unique item twice!!!

I did make copies of my receipt and rebate form. It clearly shows an offer date of 6/1 to 6/30 for the WRT54GL, and my receipt is clearly within the offer window. Right smack in the middle. I didn't scan the UPC as it's cardboard and my scanner didn't like it.

I never expected this from a company I thought was up and legit like Linksys. While $10 is a minor amount, I feel scammed and used after taking the time to follow the rebate instructions to the "T". I'll make some concession that possibly this is just a bad rebate processing center doing their fulfillment. How Linksys responds will be paramount to me. Thus far I have not heard back from their rebate center.

Linksys never made good on their rebate offer.

AUTHOR: Johna - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 05, 2008

As of today, Linksys didn't even bother to follow up with me on my rebate request to them. I waited 2 months for a reply after contacting them again.

Does anyone really think it's a coincidence so many post reports here of nearly identical Linksys rebate complaints? "submission didn't include original UPC".

As mentioned, my UPC was carefully cut from the box, and taped to the rebate form so it could not be mistaken. And to all the other similar complaints, I smell fraud on the part of Linksys rebate offers. Processing centers open rebate mail daily. How are they "losing" all these UPC's? If someone doesn't fill out a rebate form correctly, then it's their fault. But when people are in following the rules, HONOR THE REBATE!!!! It is a written offer you gave the customer to entice them to buy.

This is the LAST Linksys product me, my company, or any friends I can convince will EVER purchase. Not in a hundred million years. I don't care if Linksys made the only router on the planet. I would find a way to not need one before I'd do business with Linksys-Cisco again. Buyer beware if you consider a Linksys-Cisco product with a rebate. Based on many similar reports, there is a good chance you won't get it.
